Hi, I am looking for advice from other uk nurses who are working in canada - we are looking to move to vancouver as permanent residents. I am only at the very beginning of application to work in BC and have sent off to the RNABC for application information. I'm curious to know if other nurses applied via agencies or arranged registration, jobs, exam etc independently - also would be interested if anyone knows of a website or book etc that is an idiots guide to health care provision in canada (mainly BC) who the employers are, whats private or public etc, and any comparisons with Uk set up, as I keep on reading various pieces of info and its all as clear as mud
At the moment I am a district nurse but also have a background in hospice/palliative care - am unsure if it is worth looking at these particular areas or if working in one of the hospitals first is a better option. ALL ADVICE eagerly awaited

Have you looked at Health Match BC's website? http://www.healthmatchbc.org . I believe they have links and that you could actually speak to a live person about your questions.

Hello Lizzie :)
Just wanted to welcome you to allnurses. I'm a District Nurse too and a lot of our work is palliative/terminal care. Can't help you with the Canada thing as I'm headed for the US, but I'm sure you'll get loads of advice on here.
Good luck,
Tina :)
