Hello to all!
I am about to graduate in May and have NO idea what type of job I want. I am currently an LVN with about a year experience in Med/Surg, Ortho. I thought working in a hospital was extremely hard work. Not afraid of a little hard work, I guess I mean it was physically hard work. Did a clinical rotation through a clinic and liked it, but don't know if the pace if fast enough for me and if I'll get bored. Got approached last week about becoming a school nurse, which is totally foreign territory for me. So, next week I am going to spend a day with a Elementary school nurse to check it out. I guess I just afraid to get into something new and hate it. But, I guess if I don't like it, I can try something else. Any tips, suggestions, comments on how to decide what to do once you graduate?

Well, I know it's hard to get into being a school nurse. I would LOVE to do that, but there's just not a demand for that like there is hospital nurses. I'd say, see how the day at the school goes, and if you like it, give it a try. The worst that could happen is you don't like it and you go someplace else. Nurses are needed badly in clinics and hospitals....so, you can pretty much pick and choose your job. It never hurts to try new things (especially if you already know you're not too keen on hospital nursing). Hth!

Which part of your clinicals did you like the best? I take it you don't want to stay in med-surg/ortho?
