Confused-Is this too much???

Published

Hello everyone. I am sort of confused as if maybe I am taking on too many classes for winter. I wanted advice from those maybe who have children and work full time such as myself.(other opinions are welcome too). I decided to take this winter

Life Span Development- ONLINE

A&P II- campus M&W

American Government- ONLINE

Introductory to Pharmacology- 1/2 class 1/2 online Tues so pretty much every other week I will be in class for Pharmocology.

Total 13 credits. I have two children I do work full time, but also have kid's father who is very supportive and helps. My brother and people are saying it's too much. Will I really be able to handle this. It always feels better to know that other people have or are doing this. Please give me all advice. I just want to knock these classes out as I will be done with all Pre-Req and hoping to get accepted to Nursing School in the fall, and I would love to have this summer off because I went all last summer. Sorry so long just confused:uhoh3:

How many credits have you been taking before?

I really can't say anything on this. I have worked full-time, gone to school full-time, and had 1 child, but that's back when I was a "Hey as long as I pass" student." lol I'm not sure if I could handle it more now, or just the same.

You really have to think about the time each class will require....how much time will be needed to read, to study, etc.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Well right now I am taking 3 classes total 9 credits. It's not that bad but they are pretty easy classes besides of course my A&P class which I am constantly consumed with that. I just thought maybe since two are online I will be able to do it. I know that it will be a lot of work and I guess I really need to think about it. If I drop any it will be Life Span, and then I will have to take in the summer, and I dread doing that again.

It's not as bad during the summer if you are taking an online course, though. :)

If you have to drop one or decide to not take it, does your summer consist of 2 semesters?

(If so, and you take it during the 1st semester, you'd have the second semester to rest.)

:)

Thanks Fun2care. That is true, it is broken up. Do you think Life Span if you took it is it alot of work??? Is it pretty much like Psychology. I don't know too much about that class, it seems like it may be interesting though.

I have 3 kids and back when there were only 2 (ages 18 mo and almost 3), I took 13 credits. Non nursing classes. A&P II, World Lit, Nutrition, and American History. I dropped History. It killed me. We were required to read about 1000 (j/k) pages a night. It was too much. I think the age of kids has a lot to do with what you can handle. Now that they are older, it's almost harder for me b/c they require more of my time. How's that for irony? I always thought it'd be easier as they got older. It depends on how much you can handle and what you're used to. I never worked so, I can't comment on that part. Just be careful not to overload yourself, if you get sick in the middle of it all from exhaustion, it could end up doing more harm then good. I'm sure you'll make the right choice. It's amazing what us moms can handle, ya know!

Good luck,

I took Life Span as a 6 week course at the end of my A&P 1. It was a bunch of reading, but wasn't extremely hard.

I had to do 2 projects/reports, but I did both of them as Powerpoints and got a 50/50 on one and like 48/50 on the other. I found it fun.

However, like I said, I was only taking A&P 1 at the same time.
