NCLEX is a national exam. Once passed NCLEX all you need to do is meet requirements for foreign trained nurses which may mean CES from CGFNS. The issues at the moment is CA will not give you a license until you provide them with a SSN which you will not get until in the US with a valid work permit. There is a thread/sticky in the International forum called California for initial licensure I suggest you have a read.

Be also aware of retrogression and you are affected as are all foreign nurses at the moment

What is reciprocity and how does it work because I was told once you apply and test in chicago you must do the same in another state. Please help very confused

NCLEX = reciprocity as it is a national exam but when moving from one state to another you just have to meet requirements of endorsement which if foreign trained may be slightly different so you do not have to take the exam again

if i understand you correctly, you are planning on taking the nclex in california thus becoming licensed in that state as well - you want to know if once you pass your california state boards if they have reciprocity in illinois (chicago)?? the best way to find out is to go directly to the state board for the individual state you are inquiring about (for example - illinois state nursing boards would be able to tell you wat the qualifications are to practice in that state to include reciprocity) hope that helps answer your question or at least point you in the right direction.

need help..im a foreign graduate and didnt acquire a local license where a graduate which is the philippines..can i apply a reciprocity for illinois because i have a california license?

once you pass the nclex exam, those results are used by all states, do not need to take exam again as long as one maintains an active us license.

states have varing requirements for hours education/clinicals etc and will confer with all states one is licensed in to confirm proper credentials.
