First, a little background:
I've been a nurse in LTC / SNF for the last 11 years. Completed my RN and passed NCLEX at he beginning of June. I have ben working at the same facility for the last 5 years. (It's a great place, CMS 5 star building, great administrator, good DON, awesome ADON etc..)
When I was getting ready to take NCLEX RN, the administrator was worried I was going to leave once I was an RN. She REALLY doesn't want me too. (I guess I'm good at what I do)
She asked me what it would take for me to stay, and I jokingly said "Not working weekends ever again." I also said I'd be willing to take part win the facility on call rotation with the DON, ADON, Transitional Care Nurse and another RN who also doesn't work weekends.
Well, she talks to the DON, and they went for it. Surprised me. All I had to do was agree not to leave for 6 months to a year, since they were going to have to jump through a few hoops
Here's my problem:
It's been almost 2 months since they agreed to this, almost 2 months since I got my RN license, and there has still been no movement on changing my schedule or adding me to the on call rotation. I asked about it 2 weeks ago, and was told that since another nurse had quit (to take a job in acute care) that they were still working on changing my schedule.
Now, I get that sometimes things happen, but it's actually starting to look like they are dragging their feet in holding up their end of our deal, and that make me not want to hold up my end. (The staying for 6mo - year part.) How much time should I give them to work this out? I've already missed out on the June round of new grad hiring at the local hospital corps, but I don't want to sit around while there are still jobs available. (I'm interested in hospice nursing and there are a few jobs available right now)
Advice?

I think you should follow your heart and dreams! Sometimes a change of pace is good! The DON at my first job said she'd hire me if I committed one year of experience, I stayed 4 months (I never signed anything). If you're not happy, find somewhere else! I now work on a med surg/telemetry floor and I love it. Good luck!!
