I work in a large nephrology practice and I know we are too.

Just wondering if any other chronic hemo units are stressing from the new Conditions of Coverage regs?

We just had to do a on line class and little test on it.

What specifically are your units doing?

I am wondering how other units are addressing 'fluid management' with the new Conditions. :nurse:

Some units have critline monitors and others are looking at getting some way to determine true fluid removal. ESRD Network 12, I believe, might have a learning tool. Now that the Interpretive Guidelines do not address pre/post assessments ie auscultation of lungs, checking fluid status (edema periorbital, ankle, etc.) many units are not conducting pre/post assessments. Some units are only conducting such if a patient complains. However, the problem with this is that many patients have not been fully educated and are not aware of what symptoms/signs they should be reporting. Oh, and many do not address such changes as extreme heat in summer times, diarrhea, etc.:nurse: RenalRuth:nurse:
