What specifically are your units doing?
I am wondering how other units are addressing 'fluid management' with the new Conditions.

Some units have critline monitors and others are looking at getting some way to determine true fluid removal. ESRD Network 12, I believe, might have a learning tool. Now that the Interpretive Guidelines do not address pre/post assessments ie auscultation of lungs, checking fluid status (edema periorbital, ankle, etc.) many units are not conducting pre/post assessments. Some units are only conducting such if a patient complains. However, the problem with this is that many patients have not been fully educated and are not aware of what symptoms/signs they should be reporting. Oh, and many do not address such changes as extreme heat in summer times, diarrhea, etc. RenalRuth:nurse:
