Concordia University Irvine FALL 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I noticed there wasn't a thread yet for fall 2020 and wanted to start one ! Whose applying ?!

Hello! Since Concordia accepts students into the ABSN program twice a year, meaning there isn't a formal admissions "window" where it "opens" and "closes", does anyone know if this means that they admit students into their ABSN program on a rolling admissions basis? Or are all applications held until after the deadlines to start review?

They do have an application window that opens and closes three times per year. They do not hold onto your application so you have to reapply if you don’t get in. Best of luck!

Hi everyone I know this is an old thread, but I'm reapplying and was wondering for those who re-applied did you re-write your whole essay or how did you go about it?

I am currently in the program. I had re-applied for the fall 2020 class after not getting in for Summer 2020 and I rewrote my whole essays. They told me they would go back through and check to see if you had put in the energy to change it.

I got waitlisted last round. I'm kinda curious how many re-applicants got admitted

Hi,

I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd try my luck. This may be a dumb question but I started writing my statement of intent thinking that the instructions were to write 2-4 pages per question and answering each question separately in essay format in 2-4 pages each. Tonight I spoke with with a friend who said that sounds like it would be too long and just couldn't be, she interpreted as all the questions answered in 1 single essay that is 2-4 pages. After hearing her opinion it did make sense as I doubt admissions would have time to read 10-20 pages for 200+ applicants.

I showed the instructions to a few other people and some thought read it how I originally thought, 2-4 page essay for each question and some thought my friend was right so I just wanted to double check with you all how you wrote and structured your essay.

Also, I just wanted to check how you submitted the statement of intent because I didn't see a place to upload it. Do you email it to admissions?

Thank you and hope you guys are having a great Memorial Day weekend! ?

Hey! The essay should be 1 single essay (not separate answers) that addresses the questions to some extent.

Definitely email (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) or the CUI nursing email. They're pretty responsive and will answer all your questions. Good luck and don't give up!

Hi! I was wondering if there’s a certain limit for each person to answer the interview questions since it’s a group interview? How was the interview in a group setting? Is the writing part of the 5hrs interview? Any tips would be appreciated! ?

The group interview is a round-robin style. They'd ask you a question & then you'd have 1-2 mins to respond. I actually liked this style b/c you can hear the questions and prepare mentally (unless you were first). Also, there's less pressure. The writing was at the end. I think you get an hour-ish. The prompt wasn't particularly hard but b/c of the time it can be a little tough. I recommend using the standard format (Intro-3 body paragraphs-Conclusion) to make it easy. For the interview, just have examples of certain situations you've been in and be ready to apply them to whatever questions they ask.

Hi! I was hoping to get some insight from students who are currently in the ABSN program. I was accepted for Fall 2021 and I am trying to decide between CUI and a community college program at Golden West College (considering it for financial reasons). Do you have classes full-time Monday-Friday? Does anyone in your cohort work while in this program?

The first semester some people are working, the 2nd semester will be more intense, and the 3rd semester is apparently the most intense. They recommend not working. I'm sure ppl have made it through working the whole time but I think most ppl quit their work by the 2nd or 3rd semester. I'm just finishing Sem 1 and it's a lot of work. It might depend on how confident you are in your time management, but it could be risky.
