  1. Great explanation! Using this in nursing school now ?. If you're not a teacher, I hope you become one. You're description is incredibly straightforward and easy to understand. This is super challenging in the medworld but you nailed it. ?
  2. The first semester some people are working, the 2nd semester will be more intense, and the 3rd semester is apparently the most intense. They recommend not working. I'm sure ppl have made it through working the whole time but I think most ppl quit their work by the 2nd or 3rd semester. I'm just finishing Sem 1 and it's a lot of work. It might depend on how confident you are in your time management, but it could be risky.
  3. The group interview is a round-robin style. They'd ask you a question & then you'd have 1-2 mins to respond. I actually liked this style b/c you can hear the questions and prepare mentally (unless you were first). Also, there's less pressure. The writing was at the end. I think you get an hour-ish. The prompt wasn't particularly hard but b/c of the time it can be a little tough. I recommend using the standard format (Intro-3 body paragraphs-Conclusion) to make it easy. For the interview, just have examples of certain situations you've been in and be ready to apply them to whatever questions they ask.
  4. Hey! The essay should be 1 single essay (not separate answers) that addresses the questions to some extent. Definitely email (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) or the CUI nursing email. They're pretty responsive and will answer all your questions. Good luck and don't give up!
  5. Hi there! I just took the TEAS through ATI using their Proctorio (I got a 92.7!) Fortunately I'd used Proctorio before for some of my classes. It's not perfect (and I used to hate it for the invasion of privacy reason) but the fact that it facilitates the TEAS during the Pandemic makes it convenient. Basically, after buying it, you schedule your particular date and time. CRUCIAL! YOU MUST CONVERT THE TIME THEY GIVE YOU TO YOUR TIME ZONE. I've heard of ppl missing their test time for this reason. For the test, they give you a "Dry-Run" to help you know what to expect test day. 100% do this. Basically, have a pencil, eraser and SINGLE sheet of notebook paper. CLEAR YOUR DESK. You will have to film it and if they see something suspicious, they may cancel your test. Have your ID ready. You'll have to lift your laptop to film your test area. Make sure you get everything filmed (leave nothing to chance). My (brief) advice: Move somewhat fast and don't spend too much time on a problem. Many people don't get to all the answers because they spent too long figuring something out. Keep an eye on your time! Also, use the 'Flag' function to mark questions you want to come back to. At the end of Science and English, you will very likely have some time to go back and check. Math not so much and Reading comprehension I barely finished in time.

  7. Sounds like most of this isn't your fault directly. However, I think the working "10-12 hours 5 days a week" may have something to do with it. Nursing is a profession where you really need to understand and accept your own limitations. Sure, you can work that amount of time, but it will have an adverse effect on you in the long run. As a Nurse, your priority is obviously to patients (you seem very dedicated) but also to your own well-being. It gets said so frequently, but if you can't take care of yourself, you can't take care of your patients. Before your next job, maybe develop a plan-of-attack on how you'll keep yourself motivated and a realistic work schedule. Keep searching as there are so many different specialties in Nursing. Your hearts in the right place.
  8. Currently working toward my BSN (as regular student). I have a question about volunteer trips to other countries. I’d go after I get my BSN and after I (eventually) pass my NCLEX and get my RN. I’d like to go on a Volunteer Nursing trip in Asia for about 3 months, probably India. I’d like to do this before getting my first Nursing job here in California. My question is: Do you think a 3-month Volunteer trip after getting my RN might hurt me when applying for my first Nursing job (when I come back)? I’ve heard some employers look down on extended travel breaks. I'd appreciate any constructive input ?
  9. I'm not sure how it works exactly, but I suspect it's probably 'wait and see' till they send us an email.
  10. Thank you @futurenurseamelia! I'm waitlisted so fingers-crossed. Hope your off to your choice school!
  11. I just finished the application. It's pretty easy. Just make sure to include your Unofficial transcripts and other supporting documents. It's free, so there's no reason not to apply. To anyone thinking they won't get accepted b/c of grades, you should still apply. They take into consideration the number of time you've applied. You likely won't get in the first time, but your 2nd & 3rd try are more likely to get you in (assuming your grades are decent).
  12. Hi all! I'll be applying next week as well. Do you know if they still intend for us to drop off the application in person?
