Concordia University Irvine (CUI) ABSN

Published

This post is a warning to anyone applying to CUI for future semesters. It is one of the worst experiences with a school I've had. The staff are difficult to work with, their requirements and expectations are not reasonable. Avoid this school if you can. They do not treat their students like people, everyone is just a number like cattle. They may have high NCLEX scores but so does almost every other school in California. It is not worth it.

Are you currently applying for their ABSN program?

I am reapplying for Spring since I didn't get in for fall. I got an interview though and it seemed competitive.

Hi! I just got accepted for the Fall 2023 ABSN, and I'm wondering if you could talk about your experience?

Did you graduate from the program yet? If yes, how is the job search? If not, could you tell me how is the school day/week in the life like /are you finding it manageable? Are classes all in person?

I guess I just want to hear your unfiltered thoughts since I've seen you and a few people talk about their negative experiences here, mostly with bureaucracy/ school disorganization. If you're uncomfy sharing in public, I can try to find a way to pm (?) you? thanks sm

I'm currently a student here. Feel free to ask me anything. I will say that this program is unorganized and poorly instructed. Go here if you want to shotgun your education and be done in 15 months (some might not due to being dropped or asked to repeat).

To elaborate, the teachers here lack any empathy or teaching abilities. Expect to teach yourself, literally. You are given reading assignments and are tested on what you self-taught.

Also, I just finished health assessment. Here, you are expected to do a head to toe. Problem is that they just give you a video of a teacher performing the head to toe as reference. You do not go over how to properly go over all the systems. You learn from other students or going online.

If you like more specifics, feel free to ask me.

oof I literally just started the program LOL. counting down the days already. We literally just went over health assessment today in lab as well, you're exactly right. Could I dm you or get your contact info to message you privately

You can message me here. Unfortunately, I would prefer to keep my online identity private from this school. They are ruthless when it comes to punishing their students. They would probably kick me out of the program. No kidding.

@jenjenjelly how has your experience in the program been so far ? In regards to staff and how the program runs .

Specializes in Student.

It's true.  It's very common for students to repeat terms (school makes even more money) because the program sets students up for failure.

If you are jonesing to be a Medsurg nurse in OC as fast as possible and that's your goal in life, you can do it through this program—at a steep financial and emotional cost.  If you have other options and acceptances it would behoove you to go elsewhere.  CUI ABSN is run by a creepy and controlling director who has hired other nurse minions to do her dirty work (constantly harassing students).  You will be harassed by email, phone, and NUPS (notice of unsatisfactory performance notices) at all hours of the day and for absurd little reasons that don't make any sense.  It's not enough just to pass, they harass you about everything and anything. Please save your money and time, and avoid this program.

@tonysoap Hi! I was wondering how you were doing in the program. I've heard a lot online about the school and how many don't recommend it, but it's currently the fastest way I'll get my RN license. If I'm willing to put in the effort and time, is the program doable or is the school really determined to screw students over?

Has anyone received an invite for an interview for fall 2024?

Hello everyone. I'm wondering if anyone can provide feedback regarding Concordia's ABSN program that is more recent (preferably for the Rancho Cucamonga location)?
