Concordia University Irvine, ABSN Summer 2017

Published

Hello! I have applied to CUI's ABSN program for Summer 2017 and want to see if there are any other potential applicants and if anyone have heard back about interviews yet. Also, I would love to hear about current/past/potential student's thoughts and feedback on the program.

Thanks!

Hm, it didn't submit my last comment.

Thanks so much for all the information @JennChoi. That was very helpful & much appreciated. Sounds like it really went awesome. I hope everyone did a great job today and for the rest of the week. Also, that's interesting about the new summer cohort they're adding. I can't wait to hear more about that. I just have a couple more questions...

How much time do we have to do the essay portion? And as far as the group interview questions, are they behavioral, traditional, or scenario-based questions? Like critically thinking on the spot?

It sounded like it went great overall. Especially since you mentioned that it was one of the best interviews you've ever had. Thanks again!

The essay was timed and we had 45 minutes and they provide the paper that needs to be used so you can just come with a pen.

And as far as interview questions go, they emphasize that we don't share exact questions asked to be fair for everyone but I will say that there were few traditional typical interview questions and more of critical thinking and scenario-based questions. Aka why I don't think you can really prepare for it. It seemed like they honestly just wanted to see your personality in your answers and not necessarily to check if you were saying the "correct" thing. I can't speak for everyone but I didn't get questions like "why concordia?". Definitely know why you want to pursue Nursing and have a strong idea about what it means to be a nurse to you, then almost all questions should come with ease!

I did look at old threads of Concordia ABSN 2014-2016 to see few examples of interview questions people had shared after everyone had interviewed, so I would look at those too if you are really nervous.

and it was one of the best interviews I had, ALL because it really didn't feel like I was being judged and being compared to, which was surprising because it IS a group interview and they are technically judging and picking who they want, but the whole process felt like I was there to meet faculty and make friends :)

its great to meet other people just as passionate and excited to begin their nursing journey

Ah, thanks for all this helpful information @JennChoi. You've definitely made me feel more at ease with the whole process, & what I'll be getting into.

Best of luck to everyone interviewing. Can't wait to meet those that are interviewing on 3/18! ;]

Hey there! I have been looking at the threads you had said to look at and cant seem to find potential questions. Do you know which thread it is?

I tried looking also & have read those threads. I think it was just how the past cohorts prepared, etc. I don't think I found any specifics on questions or anything.

There is no textbook way to prepare for this interview. I say, just be honest and genuine. The interviewers are very kind, knowledgeable, and they all want to get to know each person better. They aren't trying to trick you. I was on my toes the entire interview, it was such an amazing and fun experience. ( Fun because it was challenging, but doable)

Thanks for the feedback @scrubslife.

Does anybody know how many people were interviewed on Friday and Saturday? I think monday had about 38 people. I wonder if there was any purpose to the ordering of the interview groups...

I believe we had like 35 on Saturday maybe. I didn't really count but there were a few people missing.

Nervously waiting for this week to pass so we can finally find out... please update if anyone hears back! Idk if they said we'll get an email or a physical mail on 31st but I really hope they don't delay it. Too nervous.

Same!! At the interviews, they said they will mail it out by March 31st. So, technically we wont hear back to next week? Depending on where everyone lives. But, they also said we might hear back sooner via usps mail. The waiting is nerve-wrecking !!!

I think that they said we get an email and a letter send out on the 31st or before. I'm trying not to think about it too much, Friday could not come sooner!

I called today and they haven't mailed anything out. So don't freak! Should be mailed by Wednesday she said!
