Hello! I have applied to CUI's ABSN program for Summer 2017 and want to see if there are any other potential applicants and if anyone have heard back about interviews yet. Also, I would love to hear about current/past/potential student's thoughts and feedback on the program.
Thanks!
i am a little nervous about 'accelerated' nature of the program and would like to hear from current students about the program in more detail.
I am currently in the application process myself, but I know someone who finished the program last August and she raved about it! She said the professors truly do care about how you're doing and that they don't let anyone fall to the wayside. She did say it's tough and all consuming but it's only 15 months.
Hi everyone! I just joined this thread, let alone, allnurses. I decided to make an account to communicate with you all. I also applied to CUI's ABSN Summer 2017 program & have an interview on Saturday, March 18. I was just wondering how the interview went for those that had it today & will have it throughout the week. Any tips will be helpful. Also, I didn't get a specific time slot. My e-mail just had a time from 8:15-2:30pm. To my understanding, it's a group interview with an essay portion?
Good luck to everyone! ;D

Had my interview today and it was an amazing process! You will be there for the entire duration that your ticket states, they do provide snacks and water so don't worry! but my interview process was from 12-4:30, but it honestly didn't feel like I was there for that long because it's a group interview and it was a great time to meet your fellow hopeful nursing students and the faculty.
A quick overview:
check in (don't be late, parking wasn't readily available today)
essay (they do have white-out provided but if you have your own that works like a tape, I would totally bring one, because I wasted some time waiting for the white-out to dry)
group interview (there are 4 rounds and you are most likely going to be interviewed by two faculty members in each round)
in answering interview questions: BE YOURSELF! I honestly don't think you can prepare for it, and it should come out naturally! Almost none of the questions were questions I expected.
also! Make sure your parking ticket is validated! I used the little machine inside the campus to validate my ticket but when I went to leave the structure, my ticket wasn't validated at all and I had to pay $16...
dress code:nothing was required but 99% people came in business attire. So I definitely would not come in jeans and a t-shirt. Especially when the faculty came in their business attire.
And I was so nervous the day before the interview that I couldn't even sleep, but now having had the interview... it was one of my favorite interviews I have ever done ... ever.
Good of luck to everyone!!!!
also... there's a new summer cohort that will be starting later in August instead of June..
we were told that you can't choose which cohort you preferred but because of this, they are interviewing more people than they had in the past. We were a group of 40 today and there are two more interview groups... so approx 120 people are being interviewed and they are looking into selecting 50-60 (when normally they only pick 40)
so that was an interesting curveball over anything today.
Lastly, tentatively, results will be announced march 31st!!!
Thanks so much for all that information, JennChoi. That was really helpful. I hope all that interviewed today did really well & for the rest of this week. That's interesting about the new summer cohort. I can't wait to hear about it. Just a couple more questions...
How long is the essay portion? And are the group interview questions behavioral, traditional, or scenario based question? Just an idea would be nice. Interesting about the groups also, but you definitely made it sounds much better than anticipated especially knowing it was the best interview you've ever done. :) Thanks again for all the information!
Hm, it didn't submit my last comment.
Thanks so much for all the information @JennChoi. That was very helpful & much appreciated. Sounds like it really went awesome. I hope everyone did a great job today and for the rest of the week. Also, that's interesting about the new summer cohort they're adding. I can't wait to hear more about that. I just have a couple more questions...
How much time do we have to do the essay portion? And as far as the group interview questions, are they behavioral, traditional, or scenario-based questions? Like critically thinking on the spot?
It sounded like it went great overall. Especially since you mentioned that it was one of the best interviews you've ever had. Thanks again!
wow thanks for the update @jennchoi!does that mean there are two summer cohorts that are smaller in size?
it wasn't thoroughly explained in detail but from my understanding, the answer to that question is ... no.
Summer 2017 cohort A (which is due to graduate in August 2018) will be approx 40 students
and Summer 2017 cohort B (which is due to graduate in December 2018) will start their online class in May alongside with cohort A, but will wait to start campus-life classes until August and will be considered like the Fall cohort.
(yes, it's totally confusing...)
so if anything Fall cohort will have a bigger graduating class.. but they said it won't be smaller cohorts..
Only donwside is that we can't choose which you prefer over the other.
But upside is that they are selecting more students!
If the future interviewee can ask and elaborate on here after regarding this matter will be greatly appreciated!!

What is everyone going to wear to the interview?
