CONCORDIA IRVINE FALL 2011 (California)

Published

Hi All:

Just wanted to start a Concordia Fall 2011 Thread..

If there are current accepted students out there who wouldn't mind sharing their stats, when they applied, it would be appreciated.

Good luck to everyone applying! :nurse:

Specializes in ICU.

also, ACC did not accept me (twice). :p

I just turned in my application for Creighton University and Rochester University Medical Center, I am willing to move if I get accepted in any of those schools. I have family members both in NY and NE and they told me those schools are really good. But I prefer Concordia bc its close to me and I dont have to move too far, that is why its my first choice. I have a decent GPA (3.68) in my bachelors and many clinical hours, idk what they mostly go by when they call for interview. My application was completed end of March but I have not heard from them yet. Do you mind to share your bachelors GPA?

Good luck on your interview on Monday :) :)

guruamrit, are you from Taxes? I am from Arizona, Ca is the neighbor and it will be perfect to move there. I am too hesitant because of the accrediting since I will be coming back to AZ to practice. I will ask more questions if they called me for an interview :p

are you referring to Concordia University Irvine, California nursing accredidation? they were accredited by CCNE a few years ago. I hope this helps. good luck to those who apply. Mostly a group interview set-up that spans 4-5 hours. hope you guys make the fall cohort...

I am from Austin, but I did live out in california for a little bit and it was expeennssiiivveee. If its your only shot at nursing school, I would go, but if I am sure you more comfortable in arizona. I would research what it takes to practice in AZ with an out-of-state license. It shouldnt be too bad, it is still within the US. If it was somewhere like Europe, canada, or India, I would definitely worry. Good luck!

What school is your first choice if you dont mind me asking? Did you get accepted there too?

I am still waiting for an interview. They told me they will call interviews for fall in the first week of July , I wonder how they called you before the application deadline, did you apply super early?

Congratulations on the acceptance though :):yeah:

If we are talking about Concordia Irvine then the Fall cohort is actually considered the Summer cohort. You take theology in the summer and then start the actual nursing program in the fall. Applications aren't due until June 1st so they haven't accepted anyone for the Fall cohort yet. So you are right, interviews will be in July and decision letters will be sent out in august to start the theology classes in September. I know there is a Concordia in New York and also in Texas, so maybe we are talking about different schools? Hope this clarifies some confusion. I need to get a progress report from my professors since my last day is May 26th and there's no way transcripts will be available by June 1st. Concordia is my first choice so I really hope I get in! Good luck to us all.

Well I was really looking forward to this program. They sent out an email a couple months back to let us know we had the orientation coming up, and to pay the 275$ seat reservation fee. I was still semi-undecided by that point and i emailed them back to see when the decision deadline was. They never replied, so I paid the fee anyway and went to the orientation, where she came up and told me that it made her uneasy that I still hadnt chosen concordia. So she decided on the spot to instead move me to the waitlist and give my seat to another applicant. It goes without saying I felt this was very unfair and totally uncalled for; I was furious! I wrote her an email stating they should make their policies and intentions clear, after all, I ended up paying that 275 to be on a waitlist for no real reason. I was simply asking when their deadline was, and I ended up being "punished" for asking.

SO, Beware for those applying, do NOT let them know you are still making decisions!

I am very sad about this because Concordia's approach to nursing really appealed to me and I was almost certain I would attend. to say the least, it has discouraged me from applying again, and will not be pursuing this.

good luck to the rest!

Wow, that really is an unfair case, sorry to hear that :(

Hello Fellow Concordia Irvine Nurses/Applicants!

I'm Laura, and I applied to Concordia University Irvine for Fall 2011 as well. I turned in the application on the due date, June 1st, and I didn't receive the email confirming that my application was received/complete. I have friends who have already been invited to interview, and I have yet to hear from Concordia. I know I should have turned it in earlier, so hope is fading for me (sorry for the dramatics). Does anybody know from what date to what date we can expect to receive invitation for interviews? I have a feeling that we can only expect invitations for interviews up to the end of this week (Friday). However, that is pure conjecture on my part.

I wish everyone good luck, and congratulations to those who have been invited to interview! =) I hear there's one tomorrow. Good luck everyone!
