Concordia ABSN

Published

I heard that the Concordia ABSN program had some major growing pains when it first started out: disorganized, clinical rotations at daycares, etc. I was wondering if it has gotten any better.

Also, what is the religious aspect like? I know there’s some REL classes required by the university but is religion woven into the nursing material as well? To say I’m not very religious is an understatement. I want to know if I can stomach it. Thanks!

@kellymarie1537 Yes I have everything complete. I went to William Jessup University for my undergrad which is a private Christian college so I have all the classes needed.

Awesome! I might interview in January for May start!

@tlc_nurse1 Hey! I’m thinking of applying to the asbn program. I just sent over my transcripts. How is it for you? How’s the load? I live in California so I’m not sure what I would do. Either take our trailer up there or hotel and fly back and forth. What are people doing that are not from OR?

Hi there! The workload is manageable. I have a couple of students in my cohort who work part/full time and they've passed the classes. It honestly depends on how you manage your time since most of the didactic is online. Most module assignments are due Saturday at 11:59 PM and you have an entire week to work on the assignments. I had a girl who committed from WA and she said it was very stressful and tiring to drive back and forth. She then relocated to OR to be closer to campus. I can see if I still have my old scheduled so you can get a rough idea of how many times you need to be on campus. DM and let me know if that's something you're interested in.

Bump.

Also considering Concordia because the hybrid program is beetter for me as a mom. Don’t mind the religious aspect since I am Christian. I do care about clinicals... is the peds rotation at a hospital or still in a daycare?

Hello,

Yes, rotations are still being done at a daycare. Many nursing schools are having a hard time finding placements at a hospital. This is because there is a lack of hospitals that are allowing students to work with newborns. You actually learn a lot more in a daycare facility vs a hospital.

Thank you for that Information! It won’t let me DM you for some reason but I would love to look at the schedule.

@tlc_nurse1 Could you send it to me, too!? That would be super helpful.

Can you DM me the schedule as well if you find it. That is really helpful.

My dream is to work in the NICU so while it is super understandable hospitals don’t really want student nurses dealing with neonates it makes me sad :(
