Concorde Kansas City

I am considering the accelerated ADN classes. It is new and in it's third class. The first class graduates Feb 2009.

Their LPN classes show a good pass rate on the Missouri Nursing Board. It's very expensive, so I want to be sure to know what I'm getting into! Any info from students or graduates would really help.

I am starting the ADN-RN program at Concorde KC next week. I searched long and hard for any info and finally found a student (her brother-in-law works with my husband) to talk to about the program. She said it is really intense, but if you go into it committed to doing the work - and a lot of it! - it's a good school. She said she could tell the people who wouldn't make it after the first week because they weren't there for the right reasons and complained every time they had homework, which is pretty much every day! She also said she had great teachers.

I have read on other posts that they don't take transfer credits and their credits don't transfer. I have not found that to be true. They transferred 3 of my KU classes, and they were all more then 10 years old.

It is pretty $$$, but in about 16 months I will be earning the money to pay back my loans and gaining experience, instead of sitting on a waiting list. It's such a personal thing, though - it's not fun to put yourself in debt!

Let me know if any of this has been helpful, and I will keep you updated on how things go!

Hi, Kelly!

It was nice to meet you. What a coincidence.

See you at school.

Has anyone else applied to the ADN March 2009 cycle at concorde?

I am in the process of applying. Have you taken your test and interviewed yet? Any idea how many more have applied?

Yes, I took the test...didn't do so hot on the verbal. I hope I get in. I have not done the final review. I don't know if i can wait untill march to find out. Here's hoping...good luck

I still have not heard anything from Concorde. Any luck on your side?

I don't take my NET until this coming Thursday. So I am not sure when they will make the final decision and have interviews. I am not sure what the deadline is, I have asked but it does not appear that they have anything set in stone. Hopefully I will learn more when I go in on Thursday. I will message you and let you know how it goes. Let me know when you hear something. Good luck.

I don't know anything about Concorde, but make sure they are accreditated and that you will be able to sit for boards after you graduate. I have seen funky programs which promise the world, but don't deliver. I also remember when I took my Kaplan review class that Concorde students would not be covered by their guarantee, or something along those lines. Also, have you compared their cost to the cost of other programs or schools?

I am not saying anything about the program because I don't know about it, I just want for you guys to be successful and happy.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your concern Blue Bug. They are accredited and the program is approved by the State of Missouri so we will be able to sit for our NCLEX-RN upon completion of the program. It is accelerated and very exspensive, but I already have a bachelors degree and really just want to get moving so that I can get back to working.

I'm glad they are accredited. However, I am very curious to find out the pass rates of the first graduating ADN class...sometime in March I think.
