concorde college in San diego

Hello,

I've been enrolled at Palomar for a couple years and cannot seem to get the prereq classes to get into the RN program, and even if I get into them the waitlist is 3-5 years, I also contacted Mira Costa college and same problem. I was looking into both Kaplan College and Concorde, and have seen more positive results from Concorde Career Colleges. I called the counselor and she seemed very helpful explaining how the difference between them and Kaplan is that they do actual clinical hours in a hospital, and have hands on experience, problem is they cost $30,000 for 1 yr LVN program.

So here's my questions:

Has anyone attended Concorde in San Diego? If so how was your experience and were you easily able to find a job?

Are they an accredited university? I want to go back to Palomar to get my RN, and that is my biggest concern.

Also, is there any other programs in San Diego, basically the same concept as Kaplan and Concorde (that's accredited of course) to help either get to RN or LVN without a waitlist.

tsalagicara's post sums up most of my sentiments about my school. The amount of money they demand and the sub-par quality of my education, and the shady business that goes on upstairs and the business department is very demotivating. In the end it truly is about money. I could tell you so many incidents that I've heard and witnessed in the two short months that I've attended this school. I should have went with my instincts, (the school isn't accredited with certain programs, which may cut you short of any goals of continuing education) than let my parents talk me into staying. There are no short cuts to quality. Good luck my dear.

I had the same problem getting all my classes in when I was a student in California and that was 10 years ago!!! I would strongly urge you to take your preq's online at a community college in New York as on out of state resident. New York and New Jersey offer all the classes you need (micro, anatomy, etc...) and you never have to leave your house. I cant speak for New Jersey but in New York the classes almost always have spots. Also about 50% of online courses are accelerated so you will reach your goals that much faster (reason why I was able to take a year long course of anatomy with labs in one summer).The classes will cost you a lot more than community college in cali but in the long run it will be much cheaper than paying for a trade school. You can take the preq while you are on a wait list at a community college and applying to programs ay community colleges that dont have wait lists. I took micro and whole year of anatomy in one summer and applied to schools shortly after and am now headed to a RN program this spring less than a year after I started taking classes.

Here is a link that lists just a fraction of the classes offered online in new york. I would suggest you use this as a starting point to see which colleges offer what classes than go to their websites to see exactly what is offered. You will find each school has many more online classes than are listed on this site. Let me just tell you how nice everyone is. Administration personally calls you if there is any problem with your classes, for instance you may get dropped from a class. They really do care about their students and want them to suceed.

Trust me if I was in your shoes looking back at my experience 10 years ago I would take out loans to take these online classes. I had to go to 6 different community colleges to get all the classes I needed to transfer. Applying to RN programs has been a mess with all the transcripts from my past... Hang in there.
