concorde career college

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has graduated from the VN program at concorde career college? if so, how did you like it? did it prepare you for your career as a nurse? I start in november, I almost had a heart attack when i seen it is going to cost $30,000. I know it will be worth it though! I am currently military and am looking to start a new life as a nurse, thanks!

Way to much money. LPN program tution shouldn`t be more than $5000 at most for tution. & at local commutiee college its about $8000 to $9000 for tution for the ASN program for getting your RN. Atleast were I am its that cheap,

However, that doesen`t include books, & uniforms.

I paid $20,000 in tuition for a private LVN program when I was living in California several years ago. Overall, it was worth it for me. You can choose to finance $20k to $30k on an education that will repay you for many years to come. Or you can opt to finance the same amount on a new car that will continue to plummet in value over the years. This is my view on pricey tuition. Good luck to you!

My name shows LVNnow, but I actually graduate Concorde on the 20th of this month. I go to the san bernadino campus and it cost me 26, ooo. that is competitive in california for a private school. We started with 29 students and 12 of us are actually graduating. That was typical for the two classes ahead of us and one behind us. They dont tell you that when you sign up. When they tell you they have a 92% NCELX pass rate, what they really mean is 92% of the 50% that actually made it through. This fall they are starting classes of about 35 students.

It was tough becouse of the amount of material covered in such a short time.(all your prereqs plus the core nursing). 35 hours aweek for 12 months, plus to maintain an A, I studied 5 hours a night most of the time.(3-4 hours at night and 1-2 hours before school) Of the 12 original people that did not fail out, five did not pass the exit exam on Teusday of this week. They will get two more chances. (it is an online test given by ERI and is difficult) it is unusual for someone to not pass that test in the end. You have to meet the national average or above to pass. This week and next week we are finishing up community nursing and I am realy burned out. I am not trying to discourage you, If you put 110% into it you will make it.

One good thing, I feel totaly qualified and ready to go into the field as a new LVN where the learning continues. You get alot of clinical hours and if you have a good attitude, the nurses (rn and lvn) like to help you learn to be a nurse. Last thing, BE NICE TO YOUR TEACHERS!! Sometimes their attitude towards you can affect your success at the school. (they have a certain amount of leeway when scoring...) Plus for the most part, they are really great people and really do want you to be a good nurse.

San bernadino is where I am starting Nov 18th! I am going the part-time route (i work full time for the army and am a mommy of 2)

what did you find to be the hardest part? I am a good student and pay attention in class, mostly because i find nursing really interesting......any more thoughts you could share I would really appreciate!

I just wanted to wish you the best of luck while you go through the program. :) I am a Jan '08 grad from the SB campus and I also did the p/t program. We started with 30 in our class and finished with 15 original students (and 2 that transferred in mid-way). To date all but one of us has passed the boards and there was only a couple who didn't pass the ERI on the 1st try.

I'll admit it was very difficult at times...I agree with the above reply about the study time being NUTS sometimes (and I had 2 kids and a hubby at home at the start and was pregnant with #3 at graduation!). Juggling family life and school life was probably the hardest thing for me but I am proof that even with all of the pressures of every day life you can still make it through. You can do it! :) Just prepare yourself now for missing your "free" Saturdays for quite some time. The way I got myself mentally to the end was to count down the Saturdays we had left! lol

Again, best of luck to you...it will be over before you know it and you will have a license behind your name! :)

We had five people transfer into our class from the evening class. They just wanted to finish faster. I really respect people that are moms/dads or that work and go thru the program. The two moms with young children at home in our class would go to bed early with their children and then get up at 2300 to study while the family slept, then go back to bed for a while before school I dont know if you will have that problem in the evening class. I agree with mom2derekandsammy, say goodby to your weekends. To get through, you have to use that self discipline you learned in the army and just take care of business. (I was in the army also) I am not married and made school my "family" for the last year and am ready to get a life again. (until I start RN school)

I dont know how it is for the evening class, but the reason most of the people in our class that did not make it failed out is because they under estimated the amount of time required to get through. They had jobs or lives they couldnt/wouldnt give up but if your husband is onboard with you you will do just fine! From what my married classmates told me, it is definately a family effort. Well, gotta get going to Victorville for my last clinical of this week; Only five more to go!! YAHOOOO!!!!!:yeah:
