Has anyone enrolled into Concorde for the LVN or RN program in Dallas (not Arlington)? I am looking to enroll into school for an RN or LVN program in the DFW Dallas, TX area. I've looked into Community Colleges including Brookhaven College, El Centro, TWU and Arlington University. I have two children ages 8 and 12 years old and three months pregnant with another. I have put off my nursing education for many years and wish to go ahead and finish already. I also looked into Dallas Nursing Institute but just found out about Concorde Career College offering the LVN and RN program in Dallas. What did you have to do to get into Concorde? What testing applies to be admitted? If you are enrolled already, what is your experience with this particular school?
Hi Lisalpn 17! Normally they will notify you about 2 weeks before the actual start date of class. The advisors normally do not know until then. Its a stressful waiting process that's for sure. If you don't hear anything a week before class I would call up there and see if there are any updates on your status. Good Luck with the program! I am about 2 weeks from graduating and am super excited to end this journey and start a new one.
I wanted to update anyone who is looking into the RN Concorde Nursing program of Dallas. I am happy to say that I am 2 weeks from graduating and I couldn't be more excited and relieved that it is almost over! That being said this program is not for the faint hearted. Many people may think a technical school isn't as grueling as community college think again! This has been the hardest journey I think I have ever been on and looking back it makes my LVN course look like a cake walk. Overall the program was fast paced, and stressed me most of the time, but I can say that they are really pushing for competent Nurses to graduate from the school. They are driven for NCLEX first time pass rates and will work you until you are 100% confident in all subjects or to death which ever on comes first.(J/K). If I could change anything about the program it would be the clinical sites and the organization of things but otherwise if you work really hard you will graduate and be a competent safe RN. I will say that the school looks at you as a blank slate and they show no favoritism toward the LVN nurses at all, if anything they will be much harder on you then the generic students who have no nursing background. This will drive you crazy..especially since LVNs are usually always having to defend ourselves in the nursing society. We eventually just let that roll of our back and concentrated on how to just graduate and do what we had to do. Good luck to all that start the program and if I can help anyone out just starting let me know.

I am currently enrolled in the Concorde Dallas RN program. I am also a Concorde Grand Prairie graduate LVN. I am the fourth class to graduate the RN program. The total cost of the program is about $40,000, and it is 15 months total. The program is very intense and the classes are 10 weeks long. You will have multiple tests everyday and the amount of work is almost too much to handle and retain most of the time. The program is still working out the kinks so things are a bit unorganized. This is a serious program and you will go to school 5 days a week and working during this will be extremely difficult. You will be taking some very heavy classes like maternal child and peds, with health assessment and pharmacology II together in a 10 week fast track course just to give you an example of how your classes will be scheduled. And you will also have clinicals twice a week, and skills lab. My honest opinion would be if you have the time to go to community college I would choose that option. They have yet to release the NCLEX passing rate for the previous classes. I would definitely ask for them before enrolling, only because with the program design I could see many people struggling with retaining the information they are given in class and homework. Its not impossible to graduate from here but its really difficult. You are squeezing 3 yrs into 15 months so I would definitely weigh my options.
