I haven't worked or lived in Sydney, so I can't help much on that front, but I did find a public transport access map for Concord, their home page, and some general information on Wikipedia. For information on renting try realestate.com.au and/or domain.com.au. If you're only staying 6 months you might have more success witha share house but there are short term leases available.
I'd be surprised of there's anywhere that doesn't have positions, so if St V's or the Prince of Wales sounds better/wuits you better, give it a burl!
I hope you enjoy your time with us :)

I am a ICU nurse in the USA who like many of the nurses in this forum am looking to become a nurse in australia for 6 months to a year. I already have my registration, so I am on my way to reaching my goal. A few days ago I had an interview with the nurse manager for the ICU at Concord Repatiration General Hospital in Sydney. Can anyone give me an info/thoughts on nursing at this hospital??? Also, its location, does this area have access to public transportation? Is it located in an area that I might want to live or would you live elsewhere and commute? I have mostly a cardiacthoracic background, so I was also looking at Prince of Wales and St. Vincent's hospital, but do not know if they have positions. Anyone know anything about these hospitals? Also, is it really hard to find housing in Sydney??? Especially if only stay 6 months and not a year? I am worried I will not have a place to live! I would rather not live in the nursing quarters for 6 months
