Computerized Documentation

Just wondering if any of you use computerized charting in your institutions. We are in the process of making the transition from paper to electronic - just wondering what others' experiences are and what system/program you use.

P.S. I am talking specifically about anesthesia records, not all patient records.

Yep, glad everyone is paying attention to and answering YOUR question.

We used an anesthesia recordkeeping system several years ago - it was not ready for prime time then, but when it worked it was great. All monitors integrated, user configurations for common drugs/notes/procedures, etc. Unfortunately when it didn't work, it really sucked. Creating a 5 hour anesthesia record from memory is NOT fun. We had too many networking/database issues for our large department for this small start-up company to handle.

We're starting to look at them again, one from GE and one from Philips, because we're using combinations of those monitors/machines in our OR's, and both companies have significant deep pockets and expertise. Both have done installations on larger scales, and in particular, for facilities that have failed with other systems.
