OK, I finally came upon something in the long winded CA BON website. It says that the DOJ automatically sends arrest information to professional organizations, namely- BONs. This means that if you are ever fingerprinted, your BON will eventually find out. It also means that like the last FBI post, that if you want to find out what is really in your file, contact the (fbi.gov) and get your own check done for $18, plus fingerprints from a local cop shop. No reason to dick around with local or state avenues. However- at the local level you can pull up county court records where you have lived or been arrested, to find your records there, and you can also get a check from your state police. But the FBI is the mother lode. (By the way, if you are in CA, look up enforcement and read a few of the allegations against nurses- not only are there 100's of them in trouble, but you will see how extensive the legal dealings are, and will not then expect your own situation to be handled in less than a YEAR).
Next- if you are delinquent in student loans, check yourself on (oig.gov), Inspector General, to see if your license will be unable to be reapplied for until you pay up.
And I just found ANOTHER smoking gun! The Data Bank (npdb-hipdb.hrsa.gov) will show if any health care worker has had any complaints lobbied against them, nationwide. This will cost you $16.
I hope this helps at least somebody rest at night, or even face the fact thaat their history prevent being aa nurse, and wasting time and money at a nursing school. As is clear, you cannot expect any record from your past from coming to light, one way or another...
