hi, everyone
Is it just a test to see what you know before you get into a medical program, and do you have to take one to get into cna classes.

I'm in my 2nd semester of nursing school and we have to take the ATI competency test each semester or after each class that we take to make sure we are retaining the information.

Probably depends on the program. Nursing programs have some type of competency exams for admission. I'm not sure about CNA programs. Call the school you are interested in and find out.

When I was in nursing school our competency exams consisted of going into a room that was set up like a hospital room, patient in the bed, being given a scenario, and having to run through all of the skills needed to take care of that patient, with our instructor at bedside. We then received a pass or fail. Oh, and at our school, they also videotaped these sessions. You never knew what the scenario was, and it could change halfway through.
