Comparing Wages in the OR setting

Specialties Operating Room

Published

I work in a small town ambulatory surgery center. There are only five of us nurses. 4 Rn's and 1 LPN. The patients who come in only receive conscious sedation. We have no general anesthesia.

My questions might be a little bold to be asking. I was wondering what kind of wages are being paid to be an OR nurse.

I am now getting 17.89 an hour. I am fairly new in this field. I graduated with a ADN in 1999. I was just curious and was wondering what was out there in terms of wages.

Hi All,

I agree with some of what everyone has said; and I also believe that a new grad with little to no experience should not come in making 70k. I also believe that an employee that has been in the field for several+ years should be brought in at a higher rate, especially if their prior experience add's to and compliments their new responsibilities. To make a long story short; I battled with HR and I got what I wanted:yeah:. Any techs out there who are making the transition, like I did, after many years in the field..... one word of advice..... be tenacious, be bold, know your worth, and don't take the pay cut:nono:; go for the raise, what do you have to loose?

Old thread, I know....but this is for 2-'08 wages....lol

The starting pay for any new grad-intern position in the Dallas, TX area, from what I've seen, is $21.00-23.88, depending on the hospital of choice.

From making $0, to $23....it helps.

Of course, 5 years from now, I hope to have a major increase....but then again, so will the cost of living. :uhoh3:
