I have not worked in my initial state of licensure (a compact state) since I began traveling in 2004, but I still have an active license (and I did work there for 6 years at the start of my career). Can I go to a compact state to work now, or is there some rule I am missing? Thank you.

neither original nor current state of licensure is not the sole determinant in determining whether or not your license grants you multi-state privileges. you must also be a resident of the state from which it was issued. the fact that you have not worked in this state since 2004 should also not be a factor, as long as you have maintained it in good standing.
for example, i live in and am licensed by north carolina. since i am a resident, my license grants me multi-state privileges. if i were to live in georgia and was licensed in north carolina, then this license would not possess multi-state privileges and would only allow me to work in north carolina.
if i were to decide to take a travel position to another compact state and maintained my residency in north carolina, then i would be allowed to work using my north carolina license.
if you were a resident of the compact state when your license was issued, and have maintained residency in that state, then it should have multi-state privileges.
i noticed that you listed north carolina on your profile. if your original license was issued by north carolina you can use the
Thank you!
