Community College VS LTC for CNA Class

Published

I was originally going to have to wait until March to take a CNA course through our community college because nobody else was giving the class. I found out today that a local LTC facility is offering the class and I was wondering which looks better on an application or does it really matter? The LTC facility is about $250 cheaper then the community college and I wouldn't have a 30 minute drive to get to class like I would with the community college. I would ultimately like to work in a hospital, not a nursing home. Our local hospital has several positions availiable and pay much better. So in the end does it really matter, anyone train at a LTC facility then get a job at the hospital?

The community college class will "look better" and might have the benefit of providing college credit, but for just the purpose of getting the certificate, it really does not matter.

I took my class at an LTC and I got hired at a hospital after I got a little experience in.

I'll just say it - the class is EASY. The college classes are longer than necessary, in my opinion, and more expensive. I can't imagine paying more than you have to for it when the main point is just to get your certification.

I have never had a prospective job ask me where I took my CNA class. It just doesn't matter. The important thing is the experience you get after you get it.
