What do top ten nursing schools think of community college coursework for prenursing requirements?

I am going to be graduating from Stanford next year with a BA in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity and a MA in Education.

Would top ten nursing schools look at my transcript with prenursing requirements negatively if many of my courses are from a community college?

One thing my mother always stressed: never pay more for your education that you'll earn in your first year out and on the job. I went to a fairly highly ranked school for my first degree (on a scholarship thank God) because I wanted to to be a lawyer - law schools do care where you earned your first degree, and top law firms care where you go to law school. My mother is a teacher, so that was the example that she used - school systems just want the body in the classroom, and they certainly aren't going to pay more for a Harvard grad than one from state school, so she thought it was a waste of money to go to a private school for any career like teaching. Nursing falls into the same category, so far as I can tell. Obviously, get the best education that you can for yourself (which might not mean at the highest ranked school), just don't spend more than you can afford for a particular name on a diploma when it is unlikely to seriously affect your job prospects or future earnings.

Working on a BA in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity and a MA in Education, and want to work on a Masters in Nursing and a Masters in Public Health? That's a lot of education for a nurse. But the BA and MA in education may not help you in nursing, and a MA in public health may be nice for the business side of the profession.

What do you plan on doing with this collection of degrees? If you don't mind me asking.

Specializes in Family Practice, Primary Care.

You sound like you are putting off the real world. I'd examine yourself and see if nursing is for you.

Also, as far as I know, Harvard doesn't have a nursing school.
