I know there have been a few threads about interviews (and they have been helpful) but does anyone have any experience with interviews for ADN programs? I'm wondering how difficult the questions will be. Do they ask a lot of "tell me a time when..." questions? The other threads on this subject have a mix of ADN, BSN, and MSN candidates... so I'm wondering specifically from an ADN point of view. Any advice?
Anyone?

I didn't have an interview for my ADN program either, my advice is to be prepared. If there are weak points in your grades or experience have answers prepared. I could all but guarantee you that they will ask why you want to be a nurse. Think of something creative, not just the generic "I want to help people." Other than that just be yourself, try to relax and let your true personality come out. Whatever you can do to make yourself stand out from the other students will benefit you. Dress professionally, make eye contact, speak confidently, and throw a bit of humor into the interview, that usually helps.
Thanks y'all! I have been looking up interview questions and what not, so I know that'll help. I am mostly worried about some of the hypothetical questions I've seen on here... I'm wondering if anyone knows how hard I should be expecting these questions to be, since I know some of the posters were referring to their interviews for MSN programs. Thanks again for the responses y'all!
Expect the worst, hope for the best.

I went to a couple schools just to get information, and it turned into like, an hour long interview to see if I was a good fit for their program... Anyhow, one thing they were after is making sure you understand the time commitment involved, are you prepared to spend enough time studying?
Do you have a support system? What kind of obstacles have been tough to overcome in the past (ie working full time while in school) and how are you going to deal with it now?
so those are some of the things that have come up for me, basically just showing that you are really ready for it. Good Luck!

I had to interview for the LPN to RN bridge program as a requirment for acceptance. The interview was with like 4 people from the nursing department, one being the (head chair) of the nursing department. It only lasted like 10-12mins, not long but I was still very nervous and stressed about it.
I know they look at appearance-go dressed professionaly.
They asked questions like what have you done to prepare for nursing school?, they ask about flexiablity, what is the roll of an RN? and what is my nursing experience? Thats all I remember because I was sooooo nervous.
A month after the interview I found out I was accepted! I start Jan. 2012!
I wish you the best!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I am thinking our interview will be similar to this. I will be going there right from work so dressing professionally shouldn't be a problem! :) Thanks again for sharing the types of questions they asked you - I am nervous too but I know that I need to really prepare so I can keep my cool and not blow the whole thing!
Thanks again!
Yes go in looking confident but humble, you know what mean?
