Communication Prereq

I'm an OK RN applying for licensure by endorsement to CA. I know there is a communication prereq for CA RNs. Does anybody know if foreign language or linguistics classes or even defending a master's thesis (in the hard sciences) has ever been used to substitute for a communication or speech class like how the requirement is typically fulfilled?

No, I'm sorry, but I'd say there is a slim to none chance those would be accepted for that requirement.

This is California and the BON gets exactly what they want because there is no shortage of those who have fulfilled the exact requirements and make it easy for them.

I received my permanent license today after endorsing from out of state without ever having taken a communications or public speaking class. I was told on the phone by the licensing supervisor that the prereq can also be satisfied with English classes. My university wrote a letter explaining that the first two humanities classes are considered the equivalent of freshman comp. I wrote a letter making my case for how I have taken classes that taught "oral, written, and group communication skills" and included class descriptions for the humanities courses as well as research, linguistics, French literature, and TAing undergraduate classes for credit as a grad student. I don't know what exactly did it, but I do know I definitely didn't have any communications or public speaking classes, so there's hope if you haven't taken those either!

You got your license now? You applied in May though right?!
