Common drugs used in L&D

Published

Hi everyone. I’m about to start a new job in L&D. I’m coming from peds ER so completely different patient population for me. Are there any meds that I should familiarize myself with. Or anything else I should know before starting? I am supposed to have a 20+week orientation so that makes me a lot less anxious. Any input would be greatly appreciated

Klone THANK YOU. I have been trying desperately to get some insight from other L&D nurses on this forum. I am truly truly grateful. If you have ANY other tips or advice I am all ears! I start my new position soon and I am terrified but excited about this new journey. I feel like a new grad all over again. Thanks again.

I recommend buying the book "Mosby's Pocket Guide to Fetal Monitoring" by Lisa Miller, et al. I buy that for every new L&D nurse I hire as a gift. It was given to me many years ago by my nurse mentor as well.

How nice of you!!!! I’m sure your nurses really appreciate that. I am going on Amazon now! Thank you again.
