Hi-
I have been reading this site for awhile now and Im in the process of getting everything ready for Oct. boards. I graduate in Dec of this year and am hoping for a COT date soon after that. If I am selected at the Oct. boards;

You would commission as soon as AFPC processes your paperwork, which is usually a month or two after you are accepted. You don't receive benefits for your family until you get to COT and start your term of active duty (which technically starts on your first travel day on your orders). You can get Tricare for you once you're commissioned, but only for you until you start your term of active duty. NTP is in several different locations, not one set location, and you're sent where the AF decides to send you. Often they try to send you to NTP at your first base but this isn't always the case. A six year old delinquency usually isn't that big of a deal if everything else is current; I had a couple of 30 day lates on my bureau due to a dispute with a credit card company (which I lost, though I was completely correct), they were never questioned, and I received a secret clearance with no problems.

Hi-I have been reading this site for awhile now and Im in the process of getting everything ready for Oct. boards. I graduate in Dec of this year and am hoping for a COT date soon after that. If I am selected at the Oct. boards; When would I commission?After I commission will my family and myself receive health benefits or does that not kick in until COT?Has anyone heard where NTP will be in 2011?How important is the credit check? I have a 6yr old deliquency.
I have to say I love reading posts on this site. I have also completed an application but not for AF. I am trying to be commissioned into the Army under the BSTRAP program. I am also going to the boards in October and I am looking for someone who is in my shoes..ahhh..stressful
Thanks for the info Carolinapooh!
Tammy-I love this site also. Good luck with your Army commission!

Tammy,
Are you in a BSN program yet? I loved the STRAP, but by the time I got commissioned I only reaped the rewards for 5 months!! Is your packet complete? I would be adventitious about your own packet. EVERYTHING has to be dated within 6 mo of reaching a board members little hands. It's very frustrating to have your recruiter call you EVERY month and say "I need this", "Now you need to get this". VERY FRUSTRATING!! At least I know that this is pretty much the norm though. Still doesn't decrease the frustration level!!! Good luck to you and hope to see you on the flip side!!!
I know what you mean..and about a month ago, that is what was happening. I had to track family members down, old health histories down, old landlords..lord help us!! Thankyou for your encouragement. I am in a BSN program as of May 2010, and I am running smooth. At least someone feels my pain, and now I can see that someone actually makes it in!! haha
