combined Physiology/Anatomy classes in Los Angeles area?

Published

Anyone know any schools that have them? Also, will nursing schools take the class as combined?

Yes, East Los Angeles Community College, Southwest and LA Trade Tech all offer Biology 20 - Human Anatomy and Physiology (8 units - 1 semester). And yes, schools will take them - they take seperate anatomy and physiology classes or combined ones, as along as the units equate. I hear it's an intense class since it's all in 1 semester, as most schools will have A&P 1 and A&P 2. But I'm sure it's doable or they wouldn't offer it. Good luck.

Thank you! Too bad none of these schools offer summer classes. Anyone know any schools with summer classes offered for Biology 20?

Has summer session been canceled for this year?

I think do to financial situation with state most community colleges will not hold summer sessions or they would be very limited.

True. That sucks. You can always try online courses, although most are offered thru schools that are out-of-state so you may be subject to out-of-state fees, which can cost a pretty penny. But first, you should check with the programs you are interested in to see if they will accept the online courses. Some will, some will not given that lab is also online and simulated (no actually live lab). I completed Anatomy and Physiology (seperately) through South East Community College, which is located in Nebraska. I loved it. I'll start Cal State Dominguez Hills' MEPN program in August. But before I took those two classes, I had to submit the class syllabus to Dominguez for their review and approval, since it was online. Luckily they approved them. So each school is different. If you do a search on here, you will find a ton of threads regarding online sciences (anatomy, physiology, microbiology, etc.)

National University has combined A&P 1&2 and offers classes throughout the year. I believe they have a campus in LA as well as in the valley somewhere. It is an accelerated format and the classes have labs. The school is accredited so they do transfer.

Mya2bRN, I have some questions about the online Anatomy and Physiology for CSUDH...

How much did you pay for the classes at South East Community College? Were the class difficult (I saw that they are 6 units each!)? How does the online lab component work? Was CSUDH pretty welcoming to the online pre-reqs or did they give you a hard time about it before they accepted them?

I have to take Physiology and Micro still (completed Anatomy and Pathophysiology, B.A. in Psychology and am a Licensed Psychiatric Technician) but since I have now a 9-5 Mon-Fri job it is almost impossible to fit. The CA Board of Registered nursing doesn't list any online schools for acceptable pre-reqs and non of the schools who offer entry level MSN programs say they accept online classes.

About CSUDH, how do you like the program so far? What is the schedule like? Are you in class on campus 5 days a week and do clinicals on the weekends? How are the teachers?

Thank you
