Columbus State University- Spring 2020

Published

Who else is applying to part time FNP program in spring 2020 at Columbus State. I know I’m way early as we have to November 30 but it is never too early in my book

I just finished my BSN and want to continue to my MSN. I need part time program so this why I’m applying in spring and hoping I get in.

Leslie, she said it was or wasn't the determining factor? The GPA that is. I agree though. I may have to pay more but I'll just go to another school if i don't get in that way i can finish sooner then later. I delayed starting at another school to wait for CSU. We will see.

It was the determining factor as to why I was denied.

That's really crappy they do that. Have you ever looked into South University? My friend went there and had great reviews. I have a friend there now. And she likes it but I've read a lot of mixed reviews. They are much easier to get into. But i didn't want to go unless i can't get in to my first school choices

I graduated overall Cum Lade, but can't remember my exact overall GPA. It was in between a 3.5 and 3.7. However, I did have a 4.0 in my BSN classes specifically. I got accepted to CSU for the Spring 2020 cohort. I'm hoping y'all receive your acceptances soon!

I've read some questionable things about them. There's one in Savannah that I've thought about applying to; but, I'm nervous. I see them rated like 2 stars out of 5 on several sites. They did the NP program? Do they help with placement. I'd rather attend a school in Georgia, Florida, or alabama.

When did you get notified because I was told decisions wouldn't be made til after September 15

I applied at the first of the year super early and got my acceptance email in July. I was very surprised as I wasn't expecting acceptance or denial until at least after the application deadline, which was September. I accepted my seat and I've gotten a few emails here and there, but no real information yet. The acceptance email said I would have advising 10 days after acceptance, but I haven't yet and I'm assuming that's because they haven't advised anyone yet. But it's for Spring 2020 part time seat.

That's good. But, with your grades, I don't see why you wouldn't be accepted. My BSN from WGU didn't help my GPA at all. Kinda sux. When I was in nursing school 20 yrs ago, I had the "C's get degrees" attitude and was going to retire as a hospital nurse. If only I had I known...

I finished my BSN in 2017 and had just gone straight through from undergrad. I went back and forth on whether or not I was even going to go back to school. But floor nursing is for sure not something I want to do with my life. I love what I do, but I can already feel the burnout on some days. My BSN program was very small, I went to a private university that was very strict about grades. We had to have 85s or above in all classes or we had to start the semester over.

same for me with south that's why i held off but i was accepted. I just hope to hear something positive from CSU. We will see.

My overall GPA is actually a 3.2 but my BSN GPA was a 4.99 i graduated summa cum laude. I really hope with that reflected in my resume and transcripts that gives me some extra pull to get accepted versus just the 3.2 overall GPA.

Whenever i get any updates i will be sure to post it on here

I wouldn't have applied to the FNP if it had happened to me. My mistake was WGU for my BSN...didn't help my gpa at all

I got my BSN from WGU and graduated in May 2019 from CSU's FNP program. I've heard their program has been getting more competitive so maybe they no longer accept WGU grads--but just guessing on that. I did get a 4.0 and was well above the class average for the end of the program HESI test requirement, so I did represent us WGU grads well--hope that helps you get accepted :).

You must have had a good GPA prior to WGU because their system gives a flat 3.0 for every course. I had a 3.0 before WGU and a 3 0 after. Didnt help my gpa at all.
