I thought I would open a new thread today after having all employment prospects tossed in the virtual trash!
I applied for 9 Penrose-St. Francis positions (RN BSN), they all stated "one year exp. preferred"…I wrote a killer cover letter, unctional resume…trash! And all of the positions I applied for are still available. I just moved here. I do not know anyone. And yes, I am a new grad! I would consider something like home health as a last resort IF they offered some orientation. I graduated 8 months ago. Obama would like for me to start paying him back for all that money I borrowed.
I know this is beating a dead horse, but Penrose, for example, what "keywords" are they looking for?
…And one more thing, I have seen pay information on the BLS website, but REALLY, as a BSN prepared new grad, what should I be expecting from various healthcare facilities throughout the Springs and Parkview in Pueblo? (HealthSouth, Memorial, Select LTACH, Penrose, St. Francis, Cedar Springs, MGA, etc.)

Have you considered moving elsewhere, even in Colorado? It's hard for new grads everywhere here. I was lucky (but smart...) to keep a job as an aide so my transition was smooth. Some people I graduated with last May still do not have jobs. My advice: apply everywhere, not just in the Springs, and don't be too picky about your first job. Once you get some experience you will be able to do whatever kind of nursing you want.
Pay: I've only worked at this one hospital and I heard the pay is pretty low compared to others, but our new grads start out at around $23 an hour (base pay), but with aide experience + 25% night differential + 10% diff on weekends, I make about $31/hr. Not all hospitals have such a high diff.
Good luck to you, hope that was helpful in the least bit!

There are no keywords, resumes go into the trash if you don't have experience. I graduated in May and everyone in my class who got hospital jobs got them by bypassing the online application process and walking a resume into the NM.
I have seen on Centura's website that you should never walk on to a unit looking for a job, but yet I see on here all the time to walk one in. So what is appropriate? I'm looking for a night job, so do I show up at midnight? Lol í ½í¸›
