1. I have been trying to escape from psych for 2 years now. Multiple interviews and absolutely nothing. Each application I submit to the hospital receives a “you’re not qualified” response. Prior to entering psych I was an oncology nurse and gained 4 years of experience there. Now I feel that I am nothing more than a band-aid getter and referee for the fights that ensue on the adolescent units. In January 2020 I was assaulted by a 17-year old patient during a riot on the unit. I was pushed into a broken door frame as I was trying to prevent this patient from kicking other staff members in the head while they were in the floor managing the three other offenders. Due to understaffing, we called the local police as that was our only option. It took 7 policemen to gain control of the unit that day (which we were later reprimanded for). I remember walking down the hallway, stepping over puddles of blood, realizing the blood spattered walls and feeling thankful I made it out okay. The next day I noticed a bluish-green “knot” on my arm that was slightly painful to touch. It was fine over the next 10 days. Nothing more than a large bruise. I woke up 10 days later at 5 a.m. in my living room chair. 105.3 temp, utter confusion...my daughter got an Uber to the ED for me. By that time my kidneys had failed and I was in respiratory failure, admitted to ICU for a 5 day/$47,000 Hospital stay... PICC had to be inserted for my vancomycin infusions. Septicemia and cellulitis on my right arm was the result of that riot. My Arm is now scarred from the cellulitis. My nursing director submitted a letter to workers Comp Stating that it wasn’t clear if the violence that day really caused my current condition... With all that being said, I feel desperate to leave the psych facility but keep getting one denial after another.
2. I am looking to pursue BSN-DNP PMHNP. My BSN GPA was 3.05. That was several years ago and in no way represents the knowledge and skills that I have now! Any suggestions for me?
3. My first Travel Assignment...essentially trying to escape the degrading bullying scene I have endured for 3 years, but I digress...First things first, a breakdown of my Travel Pay: Regular Hourly Rate: $26/hr Overtime Rate (over 40) $70/hr Rate 2 (37-40 hrs) $60/hr On Call Pay $4/hr Call-Back Rate. $70/hr Holiday Rate. $70/hr Per diem Allowance $250/week Housing Allowance. $690/week A disclaimer that I suppose is pertinent to this within the contract: OT/Holiday/Call Back hours are paid for actual hours worked (not on-call hours) and based on client hospital and will be paid by in accordance with applicable law. My Scenario: scheduled for Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday of the work week. Monday I agreed to work Call Back. I was called in to begin the shift as normally scheduled WITH a $500 Bonus!!! Paycheck stub: Bonus $400 (gross). after taxes...$248.40 Next Paycheck stub: Earnings: Regular (36 hours). $936.00 Call Back (12 hours - $70). $840.00 Housing Stipend $690.00 Per Diem $250.00 Direct Deposit $2,334.47 To keep it brief, where is the OT pay for my 37-40 hours @$60/hr and OT pay for 8 hours @ $70/hr?? And what's more, how does Parallon get away with magically jacking $100 of my bonus and it not being accounted for? When asking my recruiter he stated "The 500 is taxed twice. Once when we get it which brings it to the 400 and then when we give it to you which lowers it even more. Bonuses are taxed much higher then regular pay. In the call back you were paid for 12 hrs at the $70 dollar rate (Call Back) it looks like. The rate for hours 36-40 is $60/hr, but since you were on call back you got paid the higher rate of $70 for hours 36-40 and then the OT rate of $70 for hours 40-48. The overtime pay is your call back pay of $840. That was paid on top of the 36 at $26/hr (Regular). Maybe I am missing something. Were you expecting to see the overtime pay on top of the callback hours? For about $130-$140/HR? Does that make sense to you?" No, Mr. Recruiter, it sure does not! Feedback please, anyone?? And the state law here is OT after 40 hours.
4. I haven't heard anything else from them. On the very last question I hit 'record' and literally 3 seconds later it turned off!! ?? So I sent the Hirevue people a technical problem e-mail and they responded with this "With your interview, what had happened is actually very common. During your response to the last question, there was a lapse in your connection that caused the response to be saved up to that point. When this happens, recruiters do understand"…and it happens often. So who knows? I was thinking about taking my resume and dropping it off at the actual facility with a manager. Seems so much more personal than a recruiter from who knows where! I would LOVE to know how much they pay!
5. It was very straightforward. No time limits. So you could hear the question and take as long as you liked before replying. There were 9questions. #7 made me mad. Asking about most recent salary info. So I googled it...what I found was that you should never disclose your current or past salaries. It puts them in the position to low-ball you. So I put my $6 per hour job I had at a Christian school 6 years ago. I only worked there two hours per day for 4 months!! Haha. Top that!!
6. I had the pleasure of taking the NCLEX-RN *3* times. Of course I tried the 'Trick' each time. July: one hour post exam took me to the payment screen October: The Pearson peeps changed their system up so that us 'Tricksters' would pay for their previous convenience…I got to the CC screen but I did not have the funds to pay for the exam. I had failed. December: two hours post exam, would not take my payment. It said I had already been scheduled for the exam. It was the same way each time I checked (x1,000!!) and then I still paid for Quick Results and I had finally passed. **Highly recommend that NCSBN review** Good Luck to you!
7. Thank you so much!! You are amazing!! They stated in the e-mail that it would be an interview to "expand" upon the resume and show my true personality. I don't think behavioral type interviews that I have been studying up on would accomplish the "true personality" part of anyone! So these questions will help a great deal. Did you end up getting the job you had applied for?
8. Thanks! I just got called for interviews at Parkview (Pueblo) next week! All very exciting! They were one of my first choices when applying. It's good to know they have humans reading the resumes we send in! Are they in the same pay range as well?
9. Acute Rehabilitation Hospital. I was originally looking for LTACH, I found Select Specialty, but their job postings say "2 Years experience required".
10. I am a new grad! No experience, of course. The only experience I have is that obtained from my clinical rotations, which all happened to have been in critical care units, and my final Senior Preceptorship in a LTACH, which is where my interest is. I do have my ACLS cert. I have read posts that HealthSouth hires new grads…hopeful! Centura has dumped all 21 of my applications in the past week. Applied at Parkview, took their online assessments but have not heard back from them
11. Anyone have any insight on these types of interviews? Questions to be asked? I am a Nervous Nelly!! healthSouth RN pay for the Colorado area?
12. I got an email today for a digital interview with HealthSouth! does anyone have experience with this new way of interviewing? It will be in video format, essentially a recording. Of course I am wondering about questions...I'm mortified! Any insight on pay, differentials, etc.? Thanks to all!!
13. I totally feel your frustration. I am in Colorado as well. I passed the NCLEX-RN on the third try! I was very worried because I live in Colorado also. I didn't want to investigate that "Three Time" rule too much, but from what I understand, when getting started on your fourth attempt, you will need to take a refresher course and submit that to them in order to obtain your ATT. I may be wrong, but that is what I gathered from the little research I did. I did not want to jinx myself. I know it was devastating for you to have failed the third attempt. I honestly thought I would never pass it. I did the Hurst Review for my second attempt (FAIL!) and it was great for content. I then tried Kaplan but that whole strategy thing just did not work for me. I am not sure exactly how I came upon the review THAT WORKED FOR ME, but it is the NCSBN Review. This review is from the same people who write the NCLEX!! How amazing is that? It is also very friendly on your pocket. I took the 3 week course for $50. They have other lengths available, but I wanted to get it over with. Realize it is the same content, just spread out into a longer timeframe of 5, 8, or 15 weeks. Who wants to study for 15 weeks?? :roflmao:Not me! The course sections are in an outlined, bulleted format, for each body system and then of course a sections for Management & Delegation, Safety & Infection Control, etc. I believe there are about 1300 questions!! :cheeky: That's where the money is at!! :cheeky: Answer all of those questions!! RIGHT or WRONG!! Things you get wrong, write them down, go back to that particular content area and UNDERSTAND why you got them wrong! You will see them again! I promise! Also, they use A.D.A.M. in the review for illustrations. It will be the same on the NCLEX. Think of it this way, you have had three trial runs, practices, insider views, etc. You will get it this time!! LearningExt.com Put your heart and soul into this three week review, and you will never have to worry about it again!! I wish I had done that about $1,000 ago!
14. I have seen on Centura's website that you should never walk on to a unit looking for a job, but yet I see on here all the time to walk one in. So what is appropriate? I'm looking for a night job, so do I show up at midnight? Lol í ½í¸›
15. I think it would depend on what state you are in, and also the organization. The one I applied to listed on their website the type of interview they used and that was "behavioral interview". I have not been lucky enough to even get a phone call, but I have been studying the interview process if that phone ever rings!!
