Collin County Fall 2016

Published

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to see if anyone has applied for Collin Nursing program for fall 2016

I took my PSB for the first time on Feb 4, and I got my results today which was a 5 :(

my Stats: overall 26 points

A&P I- A

A&PII- A

Micro-A

Cumulative:

Eng. B

Gen Psych.A

Humanities . B

Life span. B

so my points aren't very high, and I have no honors courses... but it doesn't hurt to try Its taken me forever to get this point with 3 kids under 4 I'm really hoping I get accepted!!

Hi Guys - I called today and was told it would be another 1 to 2 weeks before the Fall letters go out. I applied with 29 points. A's on pre-reqs, 3.9 cumulative GPA, 6 points PSB. I talked to advising today because I was really concerned about the honors points - honors courses have not been offered on the weekends or at night during the semesters I was taking my pre-reqs and I think that is really unfair - especially for those of us who have full time jobs and work during the day. The adviser said not to worry and that 29 points is actually pretty high. I guess if there aren't a lot of people that took honors courses and made A's or B's the point ceiling will be lower. I am soooo nervous and have been really stressed about the points! I wish you both luck and I hope we all get in!

NOOO I CANT HANDLE ANOTHER TWO WEEKS!! Yea I'm pretty sure you will get in with those points, I'm praying for a miracle that I get in!! Thanks for the update!

10 weeks for a letter when they say 4-6 weeks? Honestly I sometimes think they just say stuff to get people off the phones. Registration for fall starts on Tuesday...

exactly I really hope it's not for another 2 weeks till we get the letters.

I have several friends currently in the program that started under the new point system. It took them 8 weeks to receive their letters so I don't think they hold tightly to that 4-6 week timeline that's posted on the website. They are also probably busy with settling into the new center since it just opened this summer and they had to move. I think that put everything behind a bit. I'm just going to stay positive (and try to breathe) :). I'm hoping (and praying) for the best possible outcome for all of us and I hope to meet you two soon in orientation!

That does make sense! Thanks for reassuring us I really hope we all get in as well, see you at orientation *positive vibes*

Also wanted to tell you guys not to be afraid to call if you have questions or want to ask about the letters (though I'm sure they are inundated with calls about the letters). Every time I have called everyone I talk to is super nice and (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) even checked to make sure my application was on file and that everything was in order. This was during February when I know she was probably buried in applications so that says a lot to me about the people in the department. She definitely didn't have to do that and I was very grateful that she took the time to put my mind at ease :).

Thank you! I keep forgetting they moved into the new building. That does make sense now that you mention it. Did any of your friends in the nursing program get in with a 5 on the PSB? I am anxious and trying my best to wait patiently!

Next week is week 8, so hopefully we will find out then ?

They both scored the 6 points on the PSB but I wouldn't let a 5 discourage you - especially if you are making up that point in another area. One of them was wait-listed because she had taken an A&P class a second time to get an A and she was apparently tied with another applicant that hadn't taken the course twice. She got in though because of other applicants giving up their spots.

Now I'm even more nervous!!! I retook A&P 1, since for some reason they made a mistake and let me took it before Biology and I got a C in the Class :/ so I repeated in the Summer and made an A. Also retook Micro I had an 89!!! so I retook to get the A, Gosh I really hope I get in!!!

Oh okay. I am hoping and praying we all get in!

Hello!! I commented on the summer 2016 forum and futurern sent me here. I am waitlisted for summer (so if any of you know anyone who got accepted - tell them to drop!!) lol I also applied for fall and am about to have a brain aneurysm from stress waiting on letters. I seriously cannot handle another 2 weeks. Has anyone heard about people dropping the summer program? If nobody does, I am praying for acceptance in the fall and hope all of us get in!!
