Collin College - Fall 2024

Published

Hey everyone I haven't seen a forum for this one yet and decided to create one.

Did anyone get the email about registration being pushed back for fall? If selected, wouldn't we still need to register for courses for fall. I'm assuming that if that's the case then they would tell us within the next week or so. The students selected for the program would need time to register. Maybe I'm overthinking this bc of nerves . 😂

I don't think that nursing school registration goes along the same timeline as the regular one. They tell us what classes we are taking, where to be, and when to show up. There isn't a choice like there is in general education.

I have a question,

If you are applying while one class is in progress, do you not count the points from that class? Would you even recommend me to apply while in progress, or should I just finish the class and apply next semester?

Also, if I get accepted into the program in the middle of my next semester (undergrad), what do I do? Would I just drop all my classes and go to the nursing program LOL

You only get points counted for classes that you have finished. So you would not get any points for partial completion of one of them. I applied while I was taking Micro. I didn't get in that round but a girl that was in Micro with me got waitlisted. So it really just depends on the points for that cohort. The next application deadline I think is June 1 and you would find out before you started fall classes. But that application deadline is for the Spring cohort so you would know well before hand. There wouldn't be any reason for you to drop any classes mid semester. Not that I can think of anyway.

I don't think you can have any classes that you need to apply with in progress. They won't move forward with your application. You also don't get accepted in the middle of the semester.... The application period ended on March 1st. So if you didn't apply already then you have to apply next semester. If you get put on the waitlist you have up until the first day of classes to see if someone declined their spot and if they did and your next on the wait list you'd get notified

You can apply with two out of the three. The chances of getting in are pretty slim. But if the minimum points for that cohort is low enough it's possible.

I am taking my pre reqs at a cc in California, and our semesters start a few weeks earlier than at Collin College, but I guess I can just work something out with my school in case that does happen

Even so. The next application cycle is for the Spring. You'd be fine to take any classes in the fall you need. Nursing school wouldn't start until after you'd be finished anyway.

does anyone know what email they will send the acceptance/denial letters from?

Acceptance letters were emailed for the LVN. CHECK YOUR EMAILS!!

OMG!! Hope y'all got in!!(didn't apply for lvn)

I got into that one! I applied to both. I have to let them know by April 12! 😬 I guess I accept and then if I hear back from the RN program with a yes I tell them never mind? I hate doing that but IDK what else to do about it
