College of San Mateo Fall 2023 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi everyone! I believe applications started today. Would love to hear how you are preparing. Let's get this thread active.

Out of curiosity, where did you guys get the 2step PPD tb test done? I had a test done in Feb, but it was only a one -step, so need to go a two step (which I didn't realize).

Wherever you got it done you can just tell them you need a two step. I have Kaiser I told my doc I need a 2 step PPD. They just order 2 tests 2 weeks apart.

Did you guys pay for the ppd 2x and if so how much was it? Thanks for any insight!!

I did the quantiferon rather than the PPD. I only did one bloodwork for the quantiferon test. Got it through my Primary Care.

Did anyone get an update on their waitlist number after the deadline for castlebranch yesterday?

I emailed (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) yesterday to get an update on my waitlist # and I went from #6 to #5. I honestly was hoping to move up more after the July 14th deadline, but still its a move in the right direction!

I would think that they'd update us by email when there is movement. Thanks for updating us Krissy to be honest I lost hope, ? also want to mention that (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) told me that next years applications they will be taking ATI TEAS again instead of HESI. IDK what you got on HESI but if you take TEAS and score high, your chances next year are higher. So far every year I've been doing extra things to get more MERRIT points like adding nutrition sociology and now medica terminology.
good luck Krissy I really hope you get called in. ?

I thought they were suppose to update us too, but I wanted to make sure I heard something before (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) went on vacation tomorrow, returning July 31st I think. I saw on CSM's website that next year they are accepting the TEAS and the HESI, the points you get for your score are different on each test. It makes it look like the TEAS is suppose to be easier??? I took both and they just seemed different, the HESI questions are more medical based for all subjects. I have already taken all the extra courses for Merit points (taking the last one, Medical Dosage, this Tuesday and Wednesday). Well, we will just have to wait and see what happens, but I will be sure to update when I hear something.

Next year they will accept HESI or TEAS. TEAS ( 90- 94 score, grants 28 Points ) scoring has a better merit point curving than the HESI ( 95 - 97.9 score, grants 28 points).   I'm gonna assume it'll get more competitive getting in next year due to this change.

They should have kept it with just HESI because that made it a unique requirement to apply for the CSM program. If you looked at other schools around they only take TEAS.  Schools that accept the HESI have stricter requirements meaning if your HESI subjects don't match the school you are applying to you would need to take another HESI test.  Hence these restrictions would lower the amount of applicants applying for the program.  I know it did for me because I couldn't apply to another school with just CSM's HESI results and I've looked at many other school sites for many hours.

Heya just wondering where everyone is getting there scrubs from and also anyone not so stoked about the total white uniforms???? I have not a single white clothing item in my wardrobe as I cannot keep them clean and without a fail spill coffee on all light colored clothing. It's a problem.

How can we connect elsewhere?

I think we need the one with CSM logo on it, so I will wait until orientation day to figure out more details

I emailed (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) about waitlist and she said that no one has been dropped yet, so no movement on the waitlist. She also said she would let me know next Wednesday, August 9th, of my waitlist status. (That is the day before orientation). I don't imagine I will be getting in this time.
