Heyyyyy guys! Just wanted to connect with anyone accepted/ applying to spring 2019 in cnr! I got accepted into the fall 2018 transfer program, but changed it to spring 2019 to get things in order before i start. I'm nervous and very exicited at the sametime!!! I submitted my teas score of 78, and my gpa is a 3.47 and have all my pre-reqs completed. Also renewing my cpr this month, just not 100% sure if it's the one the school needs:down:
Hey no problem
first semester books include
Health assessment : Jarvis Physical Examination & Health Assessment 7th Edition
Foundations: Fundamentals of Nursing by Yoost and Crawford
Pharmacology: Lehne's Pharmacology for Nursing Care 9th Edition (For this class, i didn't use the textbook. Very few students used the textbook because it's H U G E. I bought it but i never used it. I bought it from Ebay. The professor for this class said that it's not necessary to buy the book because he gives us slides and you study from the slides and he also gives rationales to study from for quizzes and exams).
Dosage Calculations: For first semester students, you need a 90 and over to pass this class. I did not use a textbook/workbook for this course because the professor used slides and had the textbook with assignments online on a site called EVOLVE. Now, I heard the dosage calculations class is only online.
You'll be getting an ATI package with all the workbooks you'll need for your whole nursing journey in the school.
You're welcome. I am currently taking Med surge 1 and maternity along with a nursing elective and 2 gym classes. My experience so far has been okay. My main concerns were just passing my classes and getting through the semester. I just felt like I've been spending money left and right. I understand this journey is an investment but DANG! Your pockets will be giving you the cross eye after some purchases. The food is edible but not a lot of variety and it's not something to spend on every time because it's pricey. Some books were useful because you NEED them to study and pass your exams especially for classes such as Foundations, Health assessment (past classes) and Maternity and Med surge (current). I use both powerpoint and textbook as well as other sources such as Youtube! Sara RegisterednurseRn on youtube is a great outside source to help you on various topics. She's helping me right now as I prepare for my first medsurge exam. I recommend finding out how you learn so you can use to perform well on exam and also help you understand concepts. Professors use both powerp
Hey!! Congratulations! So far I am doing okay. I've been passing my exams for the most part but I need to do better. I'm in the Bs but what I want to be in the As. My schedule this fall was
Monday: Maternity clinical from 7:45 am-1pm (I had this clinical for 7 weeks. i finished about 2 weeks ago)
Tuesday: Nursing elective class which was hybrid (in class & online)
Wednesday: I was free until Oct 25th, I started another class call Nurse as a healer
Thursday: (Longest day ) I had Medsugre from 9-12 then Maternity lecture from 1:30-3:30 then at 4:50pm-6:05 I had my first gym and then 6:15-7:30 I had my 2nd gym class and then I am done for the day
Friday: I have Med surge clinical
Your schedule depends on the classes you register for and the available times. Spring semester will be very heavy for me because I am taking more serious nursing core classes.

That was very helpful! I'm glad to hear you had an overall pleasant experience with your professors and clinical sa (thus far) :) I obtained my first bachelors degree from a SUNY school but it was small so I was lucky to have supportive administration. I'll also be taking out loans but I think it'll be worth it in the long run. Best of luck as classes start again for you soon, I'm sure we'll be in touch!
