College of the Mainland. Spring 2018 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone,

I just submitted my application last

week for the Spring 2018 ADN program at college of the mainland. I'm so nervous, my overall point is 840. I can't wait to get accepted, I just pray they don't make mistakes. If you are also applying please comment, you can comment about your points too.

Those in the nursing program already, please how is the program like? I'm so nervous. I heard the lowest they accepted for last semester was 760, I hope it is lower this time around. I called the school and I was told that they have a lot of applicants.

Where can I find cheap apartment close to the school. I wanna start searching for an apartment in texas city.

Basically, they are going to have you go through the motions just as if you were fully accepted. Purchasing uniforms, getting immunizations, drug test, all that. Then when you go to the orientation you will find out after if you were fully accepted or not. They accept a total of 60 so when you go to the orientation you can physically count yourself how many people are in there. If you count 63 then you know 3 ppl there are not going to be getting in, but for one reason or another not everyone shows up. Good Luck!!

on the scale of 1-10 please can you rate COM nursing program.

Well, this is the only program that I know so my opinion is biased. If I had to out a number to it I would give it an 7/8. There are things that could be better but also things that could be worse. Compared to some people I know from other programs we are all pretty much on par with the other schools in the area. Last years NCLEX pass rate was almost 90% so its definitely a good program.

If you don't mind me asking, how's the tuition like?

Yea you will have to buy uniforms before the orientation because everyone has to show up to the orientation in their full uniform. Tuition isn't bad, I am out of district and I pay like avg $1300 a semester. This semester I only paid $1000.

By the way, as a word of advice to all of you ladies and gents in the oncoming spring class. During this idle time while you all wait to start, learn the dosage calculations (don't focus on pediatrics) and also go over pharmacology on your own. Throughout the program both of those are pretty much self teaching subjects so if you want to get a head start on them this would definitely be the time.
