College of the Mainland ADN Fall 2018

Published

Hello, just wanted to create a thread for everyone applying to COM's Fall 2018 ADN program. I stop by the school today and met with a Nursing Advisor, we went over the requirements needed (more like a one on one orientation). The link to apply to the program just showed up on my WebAdvisor. Good luck everyone

hey do we have to have the logo on the scrub and white coat?

They said full uniform= scrub top, bottoms, plus lab coat mandatory for orientation. Not sure about patch. I did ask about shoes and they told me all white leather shoes should be worn with uniform. Anyone else know about emblem? Also, have u gotten on group chat yet? Highly recommend... it will b a lifesaver when school starts...

@slhanson pls do you live in school district? plus i have some more questions on what to expect or can study for 1st semester for the courses. can i have ur contact pls?

It's "integrated" into the program. Honestly the first semester for pharm was not helpful at all for me. It was an open book, open note exam over 50 random drugs. Last semester for first level they had changed it up a bit but those I knew that had it still didn't feel like they truly learned anything. In second semester, which I just finished up in May, it was better. We had 4 pharm exams that coincided with our major exam material so we were tested on drugs that directly related to the disease processes we were learning about. I really wish they offered it as its own course, I feel it would be so much more beneficial.

Ok, thank you for the insight! I took pharm years ago, so I've been reviewing it! Do you remember the drug classes from the first semester....sorry I know it's a lot

Just to let people know for the next semester. I don't know if it is something to do with the new system.... but I was accepted into Alvins ADN program but wasn't even put on the waitlist for COM. Alvin's program is known to be hard to get into. So definitely apply to multiple schools.

That have different requirements for admission... Its to be expected. Good Luck at Alvin! :)

Nursing courses are open for planning, classes are on Thursdays and Fridays

only for those that have all requirements completed?? Or can we ALL use the course planning?? Thnx.

hey I am not able to see classes i am still on the process of finishing my requirements. So can you please lrt me know the time and days and class so I can plan Ahead with my work

and also do you know what days that we have clinicals

Hello everyone, I am super late! Happy I found this forum though. I see a lot of people applied to and have gotten aspected into the full-time fall 2018 program congratsssss!!! I know how it can be applying to dif schools and the anticipation of it all.

I applied for the 2018 fall part-time program one week before the deadline ad was put on the alternate list, from my understanding as long as you get everything in on time (and of course those who deny or do not get there things in on time) makes for a greater chance of you securing your spot. I have gotten everything turned in, and done except my blue card, i am still waiting to receive it in the mail and my flu vaccine which isn't available yet.....I am praying to the godssssssssss that I get in officially, if not fall spring for sure. If there are others for the part time program and/or a smaller group app etc. to make contact please don't hesitate to email me at [email protected]'ll be nice to have others to communicate with! Thanks and congrats to all again!!
