College of the Mainland ADN FALL 2019 program

Published

Hi, I’m applying for the fall at com and wanted to start a post for the upcoming applicants who are also applying. I been following all the other posts from semesters before which makes me pretty nervous about my chances of getting in. Good luck to everyone!

I have applied for the LVN-RN transition at Mainland 2019. I’ll probably start a thread on that.

Hey I am applying too for the fall. The spring semester had more activity on their thread. I'm wondering why nobody is posting for this semester. Anyways, I hope anyone reading this does well on their HESI. I spoke to an advisor and she said that they are finally going to start using it to determine who gets in along with the pre-req GPA.

Yes, I heard the same thing in the meeting. This should make it more balanced for those without 4.0 GPA averages. Last year she said only 4.0 GPA persons primarily got accepted because this was their only criteria. On the other hand if you have that perfect 4.0 avg. and do poorly on HESI you still have a good chance as well.

Yes. I'm betting that a 90 or above on the HESI should help those who have one or 2 Bs get in. I know the average for those who take it rank some where around the lower 80s so a score of at least a 90 will definetly make you stand out. That helps me because I ended up with a B in Comp last semester lol.

That’s how I feel I have two b in my case so I’m studying extra hard to pass my hesi with 90 or above to better my chances. And they also changed the requirement for shots for the hep b ??? so I cant apply for the fall now only the spring sadly. Idk why com is the only one who requires the whole series of hep b to be done when Alvin and San Jac only require two . But good luck to you both I hope y’all get in.

Thanks. I have been accepted at Mainland for the LVN to RN transition program. Now I am waiting to see if I am accepted at Alvin College. If so, I will make a decision which one is best for me. It’s a tossup right now since both are about the same distance away from where I live and both have respected programs.

Sorry to to hear you missed the Hep B shots. It’s a pain in the rear sometimes to keep up with all the different requirements of each school.

For or what it’s worth my HESI was overall: 91.2 and GPA 3.5

Congratulations ??? on getting accepted! I’m applying for Alvin and com for the spring. That’s good to know my gpa is 3.61 and I’m hoping for 90 and above for my hesi score I’m taking it in the beginning of June.

Thanks and good luck to you also. I was accepted to Alvin College and now I have to make the decision !

Congratulations do you know which school you going to choose yet? And any tip with the hesi exam?

Is anyone as nervous as I am now that the applications have been submitted? I had no clue what an average HESI score was so I am hoping mine was decent enough, I ended up with one B in Comp as well.

I went to the information session on the 20th and they stated that the competition this semester is very low because they now require the HESI. They said they went from having about 250 applicants last semester to around 70. They said if you meet the minimum requirement that they would love to have you. With the nursing shortage, I'm sure most of us will get in with a decent HESI score. Wait period is about a week or 2 but she said they sent out acceptance emails 2 days after the deadline last semester. What was your score on the HESI?
