College help for a wandering LVN

Published

Hi all:) I was active duty 5 years as a hospital corpsman in the Navy..I'm also an LVN out in Cali (If you have a year or more of ward experience as a hospital corpsman, you can challenge the board of vocational nursing)...So my husband an I move out to Georgia..and my license is as good as toilet paper out here....OK, I'm rambling..here's the point, I want to know if anyone happens to know of a college that would accept all my military credit, or at least most of them (I have more than 50 credits towards a nursing degree, lower level and vocational through the Navy, and other various community colleges). Im completely frustrated at the fact Georgia only accepts the Army 91C, M6.

Thanks!!

Have you considered VA Nursing? Your license is good in any federal facility in the country. To answer your question yes, they will accept it if they count towards your major. The only college that I know of that will credit most of your military experience is Excelsior College. From my experience I have to start from the bottom going thru a Community College in my area.

Thanks for replying:):)...I had applied at the VA hospital in Atlanta (decatur)..I just sent an updated resume, open application to renew their files...I enrolled in Excelsior when I was a new HM, I took a Psych. & Ethics...the only credits they took, were my boot camp credits...It's all about the dollar..I was active duty at the time, so they "only" charged me a $450 enrollment and application fee..lol..But as it stands now, it looks like my only option if I don't want to have to start from scratch...
