I'm having trouble pickign between the two. I'm not from IL but am moving in July and am scared about picking the wrong school.

I took pre-reqs at Harper and really liked it. They have one of the best community colleges in the nation. Their science dept. is new and state of the art. They have a lot of funding, have a lot of activities and are very user friendly.
I grew up around College of Dupage (COD) and it is a good school too - I took classes there some time ago, but not in nursing.
I think either way you go you will be fine. College of DuPage is nice as is Harper. I like the area around Harper - there are lots of places to live/shop and do things.

I LOVE Harper! I am currently taking my pre-reqs there and I love the campus and the facilities. I graduated from there 10 years ago from a different program and now I'm back to try and get into their nursing program. It is very highly regarded in this area. I don't know anything about COD though, sorry!

I am partial to Harper too. It is one of the nicest community colleges I have been to. I have not taken classes at any others but have visited a few. I graduated from Harper last year and I really enjoyed my time there. I transfered to a university and I have to admit, the facility for harper nursing students is nicer and newer than the one I am at as it is fairly new. As the above poster said Harper is highly regarded. I can't speak for COD but I would check out both schools and see where you feel more comfortable.
I went to both this summer, I liekd them both a lot...I guess i just feels like harper is farther from Chicago than COD and thats why i am having a hard time picking
You might also want to find out what clinical sites they use if you are worried about drive time. I am pretty sure Harper uses Alexian Brothers and Northwest Community hospital(?). If those are closer or further from the ones COD uses that might help you decide as well.

You also want to keep in mind where you live. I don't know about COD, but I know that Harper's nursing program really only takes in-district students. (They look at in-district applicants first, and if there are enough seats left, then they look at people out of district - which doesn't usually happen). So if you don't live in Harper's school district, then you'll decrease your chances of getting into the program significantly. Again, I don't really know anything about COD, but I'm in the nursing program at Harper now and I really love it. Good luck with whatever you decide!
