Anyone attending College of Dupage Nursing Program? Just wondering what the waiting list looks like?? (or if there is a waiting list).

The only teachers I'm able to recommend are the two I had for A & P and for Microbiology. I had Nancy Kett for A & P and I loved her. She has a great sense of humor and is very nice. I had Dr. Barb Rundell for Micro and she was awesome. Barb worked as a microbiologist for the CDC in Atlanta and really knows her stuff. It is probably one of the few classes I've ever had where the course material was very difficult but I came away feeling like I'd learned so much. I highly recommend both of these ladies. Sorry, I can't help you with any other names. I'm fairly new to COD and have only had 3 teachers total here!

To all those 2005 applicants to the COD program: is it true that Micro is now a requirement just to get into the program? If so, then I told you something wrong earlier when I said that Micro is not a requirement and you can finish it anytime before 2nd year. Our class did not need it as a requirement and a few in our class are taking it now and then then are some still waiting to get into a Micro class. (It has to be done by the end of the summer)

Donna, I think Micro has to be finished before entering the program. I do not have Micro yet. I am planning to taking A&P and Micro in Spring.

I was wondering if you have any idea on the required HESI scores.

Donna I was told at my advisor session Micro wasn't a requirement for applying. Just had to have it finish prior to the program.

Sorry, I have no clue what the HESI score requirement will be. Sounds like Ellen wants to wait and see what kind of scores come in first. As far as Micro goes, I went to the COD website and clicked on the nursing program and checked out the pre-requisites and it said "completion of Microbiology". It was lumped together with the biology and chemistry and so it sounded like it was a requirement to sign up for nursing school. I'm confused!

I read that too... (Completion of Microbiology). I am hoping it is "Completion of Microbiology before entering the program".

Got a response back from Ellen

"Microbiology must be completed prior to beginning the second year of

the nursing program."

Thanks for clarifying that - I didn't want to give out false information! I wonder how many potential nursing students thought that they would need to complete Micro in order to sign up for the program and so they didn't bother applying for this year. I wonder if that coupled with the new HESI requirement explains the low number of applicants this year. I don't understand how a program goes from over 1,000 applicants one year to under 300 the next. Any thoughts on that one?

I was thinking the same thing as you Donna about the amount of application. Maybe it's a combination of the HESI test and now we have to pay $100 deposit fee when we receive our acceptance letter to hold our place if you withdrawl from the nursing program you forfeit your deposit.
