College of the Desert Spring 2016

Anyone out there applied for Spring of 2016 Nursing at COD? I am so ready to be a nurse and freaking out about getting in! I thought I would start a thread so we could all talk and support one another. October can't come soon enough!

Hey Goose2015, what were your total points getting in last time they took apps?

Originally the minimum accepted was 65. The highest was 90. Some people were accepted much later when accepted students passed up on COD and went to CSUSB instead. 2 were added the week of orientation (about 3 weeks before class started) and 2 more were added 7 days before class began. Ultimately they went down to 55 points contacting additional people to try to fill the 30 spots.

Wow, so looks like they make their offers to the students that meet all the criteria, then when some back out or choose another school, they go down to the next best candidates and make offers all the way up until the week before class. That is very interesting! So considering the last time they went down to 55 points, that does give me a little hope I suppose considering I have 47 points. Crossing my fingers that there will be applicants with low points this time around or that enough people will give up their spot. I want it SO bad!

Ok, so I just talked to Gabriela who reviews all of the nursing applications. She said that she is still reviewing applications so that this number could change, but that the average points right now are 60. She said that they only had 126 applicants this semester. My points are a low 47.. ehhh. Waiting just kills me. :oAnyone else hear anything?

I applied for the spring 2016 application with 75 points. I can't wait to get a word from COD's nursing program. I check my email at least twice a day.

I applied with 70 points and I am hoping to hear before October because that is just so long to wait! I check my email all day long myself, hopefully we know soon.

Has anyone received a denial letter or an acceptance email yet?:nailbiting:

Nothing yet...I really hope they start letting us know real soon, the suspense is killing me! You would think they would let us know real soon, especially since they had so few applications.

47 pts is interesting, does that mean you speak a language other than Spanish? If I was you I would consider taking the CNA course to boost your points, it's one semester and give you an additional 10 points :)

Has anyone received an acceptance letter or email? I know of 3 applicants who received a denial letter in the mail Saturday.

I haven't received any emails or letters, but I will be checking daily now! Do you happen to know what the points were of those that got denial letters?

I only know that one of them had 45 points. I'm not sure about the other 2.
