College of the Desert Fall 2015 Applications

Hi Everyone, I am starting a thread for those that have applied to College of the Desert's Fall 2015 Nursing Program. They are accepting apps from March 1- March 20th. I just finished mine. I am on the low end of the spectrum as far as points go because I didn't do great on the TEAS-70% :( My total amount of points were 45. I am hoping that any other applicants out there will post and share their experience so we can all be able to see the point range of applicants this period and see who gets accepted and who does not. I think it is very helpful for those of us trying to get in. Please share your point total and if you receive a spot or if you get any emails from COD. Also share if you find out how many applicants there are or if you hear what the point range is this period. As you all know, every application period is different because COD bases who gets in off of the amount of applicants and their point totals. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! Remember, if you don't get in- keep applying. This is a very competitive field but just keep the faith and don't give up. :nurse:

Thank you for starting a thread for everyone! :) I am finishing up my application now then going to hand deliver it probably later today. I have 50 points going into the application period, but I have not completed the teas test yet so hopefully I'll be okay. I am hoping to take the teas for free with my first school pick in May because that's when they offer it for people with high science grades. My first school choice is RCC. I thought I'd apply to college of the desert as well. Good luck to everyone :)

thanks for starting the thread. I just finished my test and passed with a 66.7. My total points for my application that I just submitted is 50. hope we all get in.

I just did teas today too and got 66.5. SO upset. But I have 48 points.... Somewhat discouraged..

Does anyone know what the average acceptance points are?

My science classes were where I lost the most points.

the good thing is that we passed. we got this. im really curious to see what the usual acceptance points are.

The average acceptance points are based off the total points that all of the applicants have each app period. I did some research on here of past COD applicants and the ones that were accepted had 55-70 points. We can only hope that the numbers are lower this time around to give those of us with lower scores a better chance at getting in! :nailbiting: I am debating on calling the nursing dept. to see what they can tell me about the scores this time around.

There's a guy named bryan that is super helpful whenever I call.. When I dropped off my application the lady said we should be hearing something from her by the end of March I believe she said but maybe she meant may?

If my calculations were correct, I have a 60 BUT I know how these things can go sometimes. I've applied a couple of other places and my calculations were adjusted by the evaluations dept so I am not confident that my 60 will remain. Good luck guys!

I am considering going for my bachelors first at csusb pdesert while I wait and acquire more points. Or go for an lvn first?

What do you all think?

Where else are you all applying?

I'd recommend that if you are trying to get your bachelors, go to CSUSB and apply for their accelerated nursing program for your bachelors. That way you get both at the same time!! If that doesn't work out I would def apply to the LVN program at COD that way it will be easier for you to bridge into their RN program.

On another note, has anyone heard from or called COD to see the total applicants this time or average point total for applicants for Fall 2015's program? I know it is still early but I'm so anxious.

IMPORTANT: The ADN website page under Current Items of Interest stated that they will be sending out acceptances and rejections on May 15, 2015.

Hi, i'm Jenny. :)

I'm so grateful that you created this thread! I'm so nervous.

My total points were 50 or 55 points and I got a 72% on the TEAS exam. However, I have no past degrees or particular experience working in the medical field at all.

From my past research and other current nursing school students, some of them had points ranging from 55 to 68. The average apparently is 45 points.

I'm just VERY nervous right now and I am happy that you created this thread!
