Nursing Students School Programs

Hello

i just applied to COC RN program for spring 2017 and am seeing if anyone else has also! I have also applied for moorpark and thinking about applying to Glendale as well. Should I be studying for the TEAS? I don't have a high GPA in bio (all Cs...) do I even have a chance of being accepted??

thanks for any replies

And yes, I started the reading tonight. They are some meaty chapters! I am trying to focus on the objectives and not get too caught up in the details. If that is going to be a typical reading assignment (or maybe more) I am going to struggle to keep up!

Lol. I was thinking abou getting a backpack with wheeles but I think I'm going to see how heavy the workload/expectations needs are and go feom there. The same goes for note taking and studying. I want to feel out the flow of the class.

which would you guys recommend? the single or 2 volume book for med-surg?

I am going to get the single book. I am holding off getting it until the end of 112. I don't think we need it until clinicals start. I think I would get frustrated if whatever I was looking for was in the first volume and I only had the second with me.

Did you guys buy a stethoscope?

Yes I did and bandage scissors, a penlight and a watch like it said on the email.

I bought one and returned it because I could not hear anything. Which one did you get?

I got a Littman classic III. I could hear my kids heartbeats and they could hear each others lol. I was the alternate for a week last semester. When I was in the skills lab the clinical instructor said to turn the stethoscope around. I was wearing it backward and couldn't hear anything. :shy: if you can't hear make sure to try it the other way. You can actually tap on the diaphragm (I think that is what it is called) and you can hear the tapping so you know to flip it around or not. I got mine off Amazon. I was looking at another that was $68 but decided to spend a little more and get the better rated classic III and it came in purple too! I think our stethoscope is a good investment so get the best you can. Also got the scissors and penlight from Amazon.

just curious... I'm a bit indicisive about whether or not I should slurge on one. The letter said not to, but then again we will be using it for a while it minus well be a good one, right?

How funny, I got purple ones too,the scissors and pen light. Thank you so much for the feedback. I'm going to look for the Littman.

The stethoscope I purchased was part of a blood pressure checking kit. It was on Amazon for approximately $20. It was cheap but had good reviews. When I couldn't hear anything from it, I checked the negative reviews and people complained about the same thing I did. It's the Dixie EMS kit.

Ok good to know thanks.
