COC's pass rates are a tad lower than others in the valley that I noticed as well but I think the high 80's is still very good considering because man there were alot of nursing programs with 60's and 70 percents on the pass rate list.
However, I have friends who did LACC, Pierce, Pasadena CC, West Coast University and COC and I've heard a lot more positive things about the COC nursing program from my friends than the others, which is what made me finally decide on COC over any of the others...well that and the fact that COC is only school that will take my transfer my general ed credits that I got when I got my BA several years ago, none of the other colleges will, they want me to start from scratch.
Hello, everyone. I was hoping to get some comments on the COC nursing program. I got accepted for Fall 2014 and so far I have a very good impression about the school and the faculty; however, when I checked their NCLEX pass rates, they do not seem to be that high compared to some other community college programs. I also got accepted to LACC and on the waitlist for PCC and Pierce. I thought that since all of the programs are accredited, then they should all be equally good. I also herd that PCC has a better reputation of all, and I heard a lot of bad things about LACC (their NCLEX pass rate, however, seem to be good). Is there really a difference in the way they prepare you for nursing? If there is anyone who is a past or present student at COC I would greatly appreciate your comments about the program and whether it is worth attending. It is also interesting whether the hospitals would prefer hiring students from one college rather than other?
I was accepted to LACC and COC as well but chose COC over LACC because of distance and traffic. I am in the Sherman oaks and it will be easier to get the COC than LACC. Also, COC is so organize and everything seems to be so easy and well understood with them.
I am taking the pharmacological and the medical terminology course over the summer in which will give me a little boost before the RN program.
Where do u live ? What are your deal breakers in choosing school ?
