College Algebra ughh

I have a pretty much all A average but I absolutely cannot understand college algebra. I've always been able to learn anything, but not this. How did everyone else get through it???

I had to literally start from scratch in Math. I practice daily and will get better with time. Khan Academy is what's helping me right now. I also got Ultimate Algebra and it helps.

Theres a guy on YouTube that is really gd. Patrick JMT.

I have to take college algebra this summer, I'm dreading it so bad. Its been years since I took my other math classes..

I just started class on the 6th and was intimated by college algebra. Things I found that helped me feel better about it

~ relax, if you walk in with a negative mindset you won't learn because you sycked ( I don't know how to spell it) yourself off

~ online videos are your friend, I don't catch on to math quick so its convenient being able to replay or rewind and listen again. I love PatrickJMT on youtube. I learned factoring over the weekend. He's informative, speaks clearly, and uses both black and red ink so you can tell the difference between the problem and how he solved it.

~ instructors want you to succeed, find their office hours and go early. Try working a few problems out so they can see where you made mistakes.

~ buy a dry erase board to practice on. It will take practice. I used 6 sheets of paper this weekend and thought "this is not going to work". Markers are only $2 at the dollar store so I get to practice all I want.

+ I went to tutoring yesterday and he was very helpful. I would've learned alot but my brain was fried from just getting out of math class.

I hope this helps. Mainly I just wanted to say that its not as scary as I thought it was. There's alot of resources. Theres a book called Algebra 2 (II) for dummies that has some of this stuff in it. I found it at my local library where studying for my math placement test.
