I was doing coding before I got into nursing, actually it is what prompted me to take classes for nursing. I have a friend who just took the test and became certified; she said it was a tough test and studied for months. I don't know any nurses who do coding but it is an interesting idea!
Check out this Home Health Coding conference which includes opportuity to become a certified home health coder.

My only concern about this new credential, is that the driving force behind this credentialing group is also a publishing group, Decision Health which publishes home health line and conferences. Don't know if being a "certified home health coder" will do anything for the pocketbook, just helping with personal satisfaction as not seen anyone with this credential in my 18 years in homecare.
BUT if you can prove to your organization you can bring in higher HERGS, less denials it should be worth something!

I just wondered how many coders are out there? Any venue is fine I was just curious how many nurses are doing this?
What type of training are you given? I understand there is a certification program as well.
