Hey Guys,
I'm steaming hot under the collar....I applied to the Cochran School of Nursing back in may, I did the Teas and was successful, however; I received a letter from the school stating that in order for them to schedule me for an interview I needed to submit my high school transcript and show proof of general biology.
I explained to the school that I went to high school in another country and that it is not possible for me to get my high school transcript.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and also have all the prereqs...so I didn't understand their logics behind that.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I forfeited my trip to Thailand and enrolled in summer school to satisfy their requirements, in the interim I was in contact with the school letting them know of my progress.
The Admission administrator and I have been communicating via emails since may.....I forwarded my transcript and was scheduled for an interview.
I went for the interview, everything went well(in my opinion), the admission administrator told me I would be hearing from her, the second week in november, two weeks after the interview, she called me and asked me, which session I would like to attend, I told her day.
Two weeks passed and I received my letter, my heart was filled with boundless joy, excitement was in the air, I opened the letter and it reads, unfortunately we are unable to accept you at this time, because you did not meet the school criteria...can you imagine the dismay on my face....joy turned into anger, frustation.
I called the school and requested to speak to the admission advisor and was told conveniently that she was out of the office and will be in that friday.....friday came and I went into the office, with all the emails and the rejection letter.
I was very professional in my approach and asked for an explanation....she quickly said..."it's not me, it's not me, it's the committe"....I requested to speak to someone from the committe and was not given a chance, so I said you and I have been communicated since may and everthing you have asked me for I gave it to you, I explained to her that I did not apply to any other school and how devasted I am about their decision, she refer back to the letter and said..."you don't meet the criteria" and I said..."what is the criteria?"
She stated that I should try back in 6 months, so I asked...how can I try back when I don't know what the criteria is....when I told her how I forfeited my Thailand trip she quickly relent and said...."ok, ok, give me the letter so that I can make a copy, she took my number and told me that I'll hear from her, it going on two weeks now and I haven't heard anything from the school.
Is anyone sensing what I am detecting.....awaiting advice from anyone....just want to know your take and what would you have done if you were in my position.

Schools get so many qualified applicants, they look for any possible way to "weed" out the students.
One place I applied they said any speech will do, per the catalog, but their website list this one specific speech. I had taken the other speech. And they "weeded" me out based on that.
Unfortunately, being able to turn that around doesn't always happen. I would make every effort to get your HS transcript (no matter how ridiculous it is, it's one way they weed out)
and anything else they ask and reapply.
Good luck

I gave them my GED and also my scores, mark you , I had to sent to Albany to get it.
What bothers me more than anything else is that she led me to believed that I was accepted, I have a bunch of emails from her, I saved them all, why did she even bother to call and asked me which session I would like to attend, if I didn't meet the criteria she should have told me then, not six months after the fact.
I was so sure that I was in, I didn't register for pharmocolgy at my school, I passed the NLN exam for my school and because I don't have pharmocology I can't start the program, I could have spend my summer doing it.....I felt that she did not value my time.
I see no reason to reapply, it's not like I failed the entrance exam, I gave them everything they asked for....I'm still upset.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I was up there today for my interview. I know the documentation is very important. I had everything but my H.S transcript was delayed and I waited almost a month for an interview for that reason. My test were great and so were my grades but my h.s transcript wasnt in no interview. I think you should not give up so easily. get the transcript. u may need it again one day.

Hey everyone I am curious to know I have not yet gotten a call or letter from CSN, however, I notified the school and was advised that I should be notified by the end of June. Is it possible that they are still accepting students into the evening program?
That can very well be the case. Things dont move as quickly as I thought so time and patience. And make lots of calls
thank you so very much.. I guess I am just going to have to wait... Have you heard from them yet? I read that you got your interview back in Feb. just like I did.
